Re: Weird foot pedal issue 406 2001 2 HDI

Thanks Doggy I will try that tomorrow morning. I've done nearly 200 miles in it now. Quite like the drive, apart from bump bump on pedal with abs issue. Abs light on nearly all the time now. Does anyone know how that might affect my insurance if I was in an accident? (Just asked a passing plod and h...

Weird foot pedal issue 406 2001 2 HDI

Hello again! You may remember the sorry saga of my newly purchased but ancient 406 exec estate . Well it finally came back from garage yesterday- nearly forgotten what it looked like! You may remember the brakes failed and flooded servo. Its now had a brand new master cylinder and a second hand serv...

Still WANTED Servo; Peugeot number; 4535 f5

This brake servo is still wanted.
The first new one I bought was a scam and I'm being refunded by Paypal
So bought another, a second-hand one, only to be phoned up yesterday to say they are refunding the money because when they took it off the car it was no good.....so the hunt continues!

Re: Intermittent fumes in car. 2001 406 exec estate HDi 110 2 ltre

Things have progressed a bit. I think I was scammed over the first servo and thank goodness PayPal are refunding me. They are not cheap, IF you can find one. so...I've had to buy a secondhand one which should arrive this week. My usual garage was, how can I say....less than enthusiastic about the jo...

Re: Intermittent fumes in car. 2001 406 exec estate HDi 110 2 ltre

Thanks all, points noted re vacuum thingy. I will flag it up with the garage and ask them to check. the Haynes manual does explain how to test to see if the actual servo is at fault ...valves and vacuum pump etc and I bought the manual to give to the garage to help them. (and for me to read!) I sort...

:) I've Just ordered a Haynes manual for this car Should I change my posting name to 'Granny with a spanner' Assuming the pedal gets better I still have the on/off ABS judder to put up with. BOTH garages have said this is not dangerous and can wait. Do let me know if you think they are i...

Re: Intermittent fumes in car. 2001 406 exec estate HDi 110 2 ltre

Thanks all of you for your input. I've just been reading others posts re weird feeling brake pedals on 406 diesel and found this [quote ] It's not so much the sinking pedal I'm bothered about, it's the delay from pressing the pedal to the car slowing down, it's as if there's no servo assistance unti...

I THINK I'M SORTED NOW. THANKS Re: WANTED Servo; Peugeot number; 4535 f5

Thanks Peter. I'm hoping I have now ordered the correct part. Its RHD and a garage will be fitting it along with a new brake master cylinder . I'm then looking forward to a better pedal.

Re: Intermittent fumes in car. 2001 406 exec estate HDi 110 2 ltre

Hi there, thanks for offer. I've actually just ordered them new online, so assuming the garage gave me the correct part numbers they should fit. £70 for new brake servo and £91 for new master cylinder , which doesn't seem too bad. I opened the bonnet this afternoon to look at the work they did and t...
