Re: What is this dangling hose on front of my engine?

so this hose is supposed to be there, swinging in the breeze? Could it actually be a diesel leak from the filter leaving spots on my drive, instead of oil then? Wondering if there is an easy way to tell, if i leave some paper under the car one night.

Any ideas what this noise could be?

Doesn't sound so bad in the video, but it was loud enough that passers-by (it started when I was leaving a car park) were looking over to see what the noise was: https://1drv.ms/v/s!AmGtZYDBXzj8hZJKBUxPwb-JFphOaw It's a 2001 diesel. I was able to drive it home after it started (a short distance, and...

What is this dangling hose on front of my engine?

See picture:

Was this hose supposed to be connected to anything? It must just be flapping about while I'm driving.

I am getting spots of oil on my drive, and the front of the engine looks very dirty with oil, but it doesn't seem to need topping up between changes.

Re: Just got a 406, drives great, but various niggles

thanks doggy, I've posted individual questions for the radio and locking problem in their respective forums. On the fuel flap issue, on a closer look I can see there is a type of spring in the middle of the hinge, and it looks like there was a plastic bit that extruded from the flap which it would h...

central locking only works on passenger door 1 in 3 times

Hi, I've been having problems with my central locking, specifically the front passenger door fails to unlock, and I have to lock/unlock about 3 times to get it to unlock eventually. The two rear doors are fine. I also have problems locking the car, where it fails to lock ALL the doors (makes noise t...

poor radio reception - troubleshooting

Not sure where to start looking on this. Symptoms: Can pick up very few FM stations - just BBC R1 and Classic FM in my town, and both of these suffer intermittent interference while driving (in a small geographic area, sometimes just 20 metres makes the difference between clear reception and roaring...

Re: Just got a 406, drives great, but various niggles

thanks everyone, I found a youtube video on replacing MFD bulbs, will remove my MFD and have a look before shelling out for a replacement. On one occasion I had the central locking problem, the passenger door remained locked, and couldn't be unlocked from the inside. The switch in the door handle wo...

Just got a 406, drives great, but various niggles

Hi, I've just bought a 2001 Diesel Rapier, and really like how it drives (can't understand why I only paid £500 for it), but there are a list of niggles that I'd like to fix. Hoping to get advice on which ones I may be able to fix myself, and where I'll be better off taking it to a garage, and where...
