Re: Vacuum leak after engine shut down
Sounds like the check valve in your brake booster is faulty. On some it is possible to replace the check valve itself, on others you may have to replace the entire brae booster. I don't know what is the case for the 406. Under normal operation the brake booster is filled with vacuum on both sides o...

Vacuum leak after engine shut down
Hi, My 406 HDI 2.0 has vacuum leak after engine shut down. I can here that hissing noise from turbo solenoid after engine-off for 3-5 minutes due to vacuum from the hose which is connected to brake master. I have highlighted the hose in below diagram which is connected to turbo solenoid valve. actua...

Re: Underbody frame rail damage due to improper jacking
Thanks steve_earwig for you replies.
Can somebody who is an expert in body works kindly confirm that this does have any impact on structure. If not I can leave it as it is without repairing to save money for unnecessary repair.

Underbody frame rail damage due to improper jacking
My 406 under body frame rail damaged due to improper jacking. When I kept my car at garage to paint sills, somebody has jacked up the car using frame rail. If I were there at that time I would never permit him to jack the car up by using frame rails. I have attached some photos of the damage and bef...

Re: Turbo and EGR solenoid valves
A lot of people have reported a hissing noise for a few minutes after shutdown. It happens on my car too, I believe it's the rush of air entering the vacuum system to equalise pressure on shutdown, but don't quote me on that! You will not hear anything really when running 12V through the EV as they...

Re: Turbo and EGR solenoid valves
Okay, I didn't realise. So is it a single branch off the vac pump? If so then just swap them over - single on the servo and the T piece on the pump 8) Yup, just a single quick release connector on the vac pump! http://i.imgur.com/GON5NEB.png Tila, one thing I'd like to bring to your attention -- th...

Re: Turbo and EGR solenoid valves
Here is a picture that I spent time* and effort* doing a while ago. Ignore the green line - it isn't on a 2.0Hdi - so you need to split the feeds from the vac pump - send the main one to the servo ( the one without the pin hole restrictor ) and the other to the turbo solenoid. http://i32.photobucke...

Re: Turbo and EGR solenoid valves
Hi Tila, If you look at the brake servo, underneath the brake fluid reservoir you will see a plastic connector t-piece with a few vacuum lines coming from it. At the moment one of these lines goes straight to your turbo, and the other one will go to one of your other EV's. Block one of the two nipp...

Re: Turbo and EGR solenoid valves
Your current EV setup is very...bodged, to say the least. At the moment the wastegate on your turbo is connected directly to a vacuum supply, holding the wastegate closed at all times. This will be causing the car to trigger a MIL and potentially limp mode if it sees the turbo overboosting regularl...

This is from Turbo solenoid valve.steve_earwig wrote:There's usually a fair bit of hissing as the fuel pressure releases, Not sure about the vacuum system but you might be hearing that too.

Hissing after engine shutdown 406 HDI 110
When my 406 HDI 110 engine shutdown after running, there is a hissing (like vacuum noise) from the turbo solenoid for a few minutes and gone. Also sound goes when I disconnect feeds from the solenoid. and also when pressing brake pedal few times after engine shutdown vacuum hissing stops. This vacuu...
