Re: Recommended Shocks

Thanks for the input! My mechanic mentioned several names such as Billstein, KYB and Monroe, but added 'gas' struts might be a better choice, especially for a car this size. Been poking around online and there's a lot to choose from: Gas struts, oil struts, mono-tube, twin-tube, adjustable... Which ...

Recommended Shocks

Hi All! So, time to tackle another item on my long 'To-Do' list for my HDI Estate. The Suspension! I'm hoping there's not much to do there, since some items have already been replaced when I initially purchased the car, a couple years back. But, the shocks themselves will most likely need to be repl...

Re: Sluggish HDI and more...

Thank you so much for the hints, Doggy! Just spent a couple hours poking around PP2000 until my laptop battery ran out. Make a note of all the fault codes/descriptions, then clear them. The intermittent ones may not reappear so can be disregarded. Concentrate on what's left. You can ignore the glowp...

Re: Sluggish HDI and more...

And 5 months later... I finally got my PP2000 to work! Connected it, entered all the info requested, VIN, DAM, etc etc etc... now... what do I do? I went through the tests and tested everything... no faults Scanned the ECU for faults, and it showed faults with the EGR and turbo valves, like t...

Getting New Remote Key

Hello everyone. So, another woe in my 'Logbook'. A couple weeks ago I took the car into a local Peugeot Dealer for a repair on the AC. All good with that, the AC now works flawlessly. Trouble is, someone there 'apparently' dropped my keyfob and it 'apparently' started triggering the central lock at ...

Re: Sluggish HDI and more...

Quick Update with another question... A friend of mine has a 1.4 HDi 307... and complained about pretty much the same symptoms as me. Though he said he took his car to a mechanic and they cleaned up the EGR and pretty much (quote) "Hollowed Out" the cat... Says the car darts through inclines in 5th ...

Question: Steering Wheel Controls

Ok... so this might be a dumb question, but dumb thoughts come to my old decaying mind at 2:20am So, is seems that the onboard technology of the 406 is shared, in part or in full, with other PSA group vehicles, specifically Citroën... That said... : How possible would it be to get a steering wheel w...

Re: Sluggish HDI and more...

(...) Only if the MAF sensor readings are considered to be off-range (or not present e.g. if you unplug its electrical connector), it will switch to running on the air pressure (i.e. the MAP sensor, at the top of the intercooler) (...) Question... The sluggishness is a given, I'll be sure to check ...

Re: Sluggish HDI and more...

Ok, so the air inlet is 'before' the air filter.... so, if I open the air filter it should have the same effect, right?

Is it possible at all that the inlet is somehow clogged or closed or obstructed... or crushed due to some inexplicable and undocumented frontal collision... ?

Re: Sluggish HDI and more...

Ok, I am now officially stuck... Still having trouble with the turbo not giving any boost, and with the turbo/wastegate solenoid error in the ECU, I decided to replace both electrovalves on the firewall. Felt optimistic cuz it seemed to bring the turbo back to life, with a hint of a 'whistling' soun...

Grime and debris 'inside' the headlamp...

So, long story short, I've had my HDI estate for a whole year, and it's 'STILL' all Effed up... Winter here in the Portuguese roads has come and gone, and I kept noticing the ilumination from both my headlamps was less than ideal. Being hazed to the point of looking 'yellow', I figured I could have ...

Re: Sluggish HDI and more...

Do you have access to a vacuum pump or vacuum gauge? This will help, as when I had an issue with my turbo, it was because the turbo do was not getting enough vacuum to open the vanes - I had a blockage in the plastic 3 way clip on the vacuum pump. I thought of getting one to test the vacuum lines.....

Re: Sluggish HDI and more...

Cheers, and good luck finding time to breathe! :D Yea, one less thing to check is good  In the meantime, managed to squeeze a 'little' time to breathe, so I did manage to check a few things. I located the electro-valves on the bulkhead, and (I think) I found the one connected to the wastegate ...
