Re: Various bits and pieces for free
Hi, do you still have the wheels with winter tyres please? I’ll likely be taking the 406 to visit family in Europe at Christmas, so have started planning ahead!
Best regards Nick

Tyre and wheel
Hi all, I have a spare 205 60 15 (91V) Michelin Energy tyre on a steel 406 wheel. About 4mm of tread. It’s been hanging up in my garage for ages. Any good to anyone? I’m in West Sussex. I’d rather pass it on to a good home than spend a fortune in ‘Bay fees. Cheers, Nick

Re: 2001 406 GTX 2.0 ESTATE AUTO
Hi Dave, I’m interested - been looking for a petrol estate since our old one ate its brake servo in 2019. Is it possible to view yours? We’re down in Sussex.
Best regards, Nick

Wanted - battery positive terminal post adaptor
Hi all, I've had a new battery positive lead fitted, but it didn't come with the adaptor that enables you to screw it to the terminal post :( . I believe it's called a "castle"? Do any of you have a spare one please? I've spotted one on eBay for the *negative* terminal (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NE...

Re: Replacing OEM Philips tape player
Forgot to add, if anyone would like the OEM radio/tape player, you're welcome to it. Last time I used it, the sound from the radio was OK, but the tape sounded muffled. Probably needs a good clean.

Re: Replacing OEM Philips tape player
It's the PC99-X15. With that and a Pioneer patch lead I already had, the aftermarket unit is now working, complete with all stalk controls. The thing is, with the extra wiring, adaptor and block connector back there, the head unit doesn't quite go all the way back into the aperture. So the next job ...

Replacing OEM Philips tape player
OK, apologies if this has been covered before. I *did* search <embarrassed face>! I've found a bargain Pioneer all-singing all-dancing head unit to replace the OEM Philips radio/tape player in my 1998 GLX saloon. Do any of you know which stalk control adaptor I need? The Autoleads PC99-X24 that's li...

Re: WTB CD player
Hi Kelv,
Thank you for that - I didn’t know the earlier CD players were Philipses.

WTB CD player
Do any of you have an unwanted OEM CD player please? I'd like to replace the tape player in my 1998 D8, but still keep the facia looking neat. If this is possible, I understand the CD player will have to be coded to my VIN?
Thanks, Nick

Wag, did you find some? I’ve got a pair off a 406 estate (unbranded AFAIK, supposed to be lockable but there’s no key ). I’m in Sussex but can find out postage etc.

Biting point adjustment
I've bought a replacement 406 estate, to replace our old one that failed its MoT beyond economic repair. The "new" one is a 2000 D9 with the old 1.8 engine. Runs fine, long MoT, clean inside. One or two things not working, but fixable. But... the clutch biting point is close to the floor, which mean...

2003 1.8 estate spares or repair
2003 1.8 petrol Rapier estate for spares or repair. MoT failure, needs brake servo and most likely master cylinder. 143,300 miles with full service history. Recent front brakes, new clutch in 2015, tyres all good including spare. Everything works except of course the remote central locking. 2 keys! ...
