Re: 406 2.1 egr and hydraulic clutch
That's good news uberderv on the EGR and some wise caution re the hydraulic clutch. Without thinking I unscrewed the top of the clutch 'reservoir' on the firewall and am/was worried I may have let some special clutch air or the activating genie out and it won't work again. Car's engine is being repa...

Re: EDITECU - 10% discount on remaps of all kinds
My '04 407 2.0 HDi has the 4speed auto - it also has zero compression in #1 cylinder at cranking speed. Have bought a 307 with 2.0 HDi and 6 sp auto and would like to fit the engne and 6sp into the 407. Would it be possible for your firm to adjust the ECU and auto control so it will all work well.??...

Re: 406 2.1 egr and hydraulic clutch
That's great news madmadmax, nice and simple. After seeing all the crud in there you'd have to wonder why Peug designed a system that ensures an unfiltered and oxygen free waste product is mixed with clean filtered air.

Re: 406 2.1 egr and hydraulic clutch
thanks for that. Being familiar with blanking a 407HDi I looked for but couldn't find a suitable place for installation of the plate.
I gather that simply unscrewing the cap is not going to result in some catastrophy happening to the system that needs dealer help.

406 2.1 egr and hydraulic clutch
Morning to all, the wagon is newly acquired with XUD11BTE diesel and 5 sp manual built in '98. A look inside the plastic inlet manifold finds it to be caked in 1/4 inch of sooty crap, so 1st thought is deactivate the EGR; is a ball in the vacuum line the best way.?? Secondly, the user handbook talks...

Re: New Aussie face. Oldish stdt needing repair!
Evening all. The 407's problem with #1 cylinder is loss of compression to such a degree that while #2 reads 290 psi, #1 won't lift the needle off the zero stop. By putting compressed air into #1 we find that air leaks from the exhaust when it shouldn't. Am yet to lift the aluminium cam cover plate t...

Re: New Aussie face. Oldish stdt needing repair!
Morning to all , thanks for your words. Some things are now starting to become a little clearer. First the 2.1 406 stdt's cambelt and the mess inside is visible. The harmonic balancer is undoubtedly the original(240,000 miles) and its rubber layer has failed with the result that the bottom cambelt c...

Re: New Aussie face. Oldish stdt needing repair!
Thanks for the responses, and sorry about generating some confusion. Over here in Aust., we don't get all the models you lads do, and I overlooked that. The 407HDi (136 hp) is the wife's car and developed an ongoing rough idling problem that begins with #1 injector's correction reading being ~140 wh...

New Aussie face. Oldish stdt needing repair!
Evening all; I hail from Coffs Harbour on the east coast and a bit closer to Brisbane than to Sydney. The main family car usually does about 18-20k miles per year and for last 20 yrs have been diesels except for a 406 V6 that passed to the son when we bought a 407 2.0 HDi. After a total loss of powe...
