Re: Another MOT pass
Mine also passed with flying colours yesterday, so 13 months MOT free. Had her annual service at same time, mechanics said she is sound as a pound and has years of service left in her yet.

Re: How many forum users still actually drive a 406
My old girl is still going strong, Hull to Barry, South Wales done my business then home again in less than twelve hours in atrocious conditions on thursday- never missed a beat! Then sailed through her MOT today, so thirteen months MOT until January 2025!

Re: New car??
Maybe just me and one or two others? But there are still quite a few decent 406's out there? although prices seem to be on the incline? My own 2.2hdi exec estate just seems to me to be the most comfortable car I have ever owned, does everything I want it to do and has never let me down. Whats not to...

Re: Rear brakes upgrades?
I agree with Steve The rear brakes ( as with most cars ) only do about 25% of the cars braking so the fronts are the important ones. I've had numerous 406s, and apart from the one I currently own they have all had terrible handbrakes that need constant attention - but once sorted it'll be fine. The...

Many thanks for that Steve. I'll spend next money on the remap, egr and dpf deletes etc. then! Best regards.

Rear brakes upgrades?
Well I've got my fronts sorted. Ended up fitting the 16" Starfish alloys with the Brembo calipers along with 215 55 r16 Dunlop sport blu response tyres. All done on a very limited budget, and a massive improvement in my opinion. I was just wondering if anyone has done any mods to the rear brakes? Th...

Re: Clock instrument cluster
The white dials are super on a night? Far superior to the black ones as there are better coloured leds inside as well. Your night time problem would arise if you just change the dial faces as you suggested? You must at least change the hands as well as the faces? Standard ones on the black face are ...

Re: Fuel Filler Flap
In my opinion the clothes peg spring is much too strong and causes further little plastic bits to break off later on? Get a piece of silicon tubing around 1/2" in diameter. I used a bit off one of those stretchy keep fit bands - about 3" long. I punched a 4mm hole right through in the middle of the ...
