Yes, that is another way to test it. Chances are pretty low that two vehicles have the same wiring problem.

Re: Peugeot 406 diagnosis problem

Hi, if the PP2k software is able to connect to other equipment (like BSI, ABS etc.) then it seems the software is working fine. Just the connection to the engine ECU is failing. It could be a wiring issue in the vehicle, but chances are high that your Lexia clone is not working correctly. Maybe some...

Re: Vacuum issue?

How would a poor vacuum feed to the waste gate affect running? i.e. would the waste gate be stuck open or closed without vacuum? There are various opinions about this. As far as I can see from this document , page 25, diagram "E" and page 26: montage (E): au repos la soupape régulatrice est ouverte...

Re: Vacuum issue?

This sounds like a leak in one of the vacuum tubes. Check all of them visually for damage. Here you can find pictures of the vacuum system: https://406oc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=21522 . It depends on the build date if you have a third solenoid (for the "air doser"). Here is another document describing...

Clutch replacement: also replace flywheel?

Question: the bearing seal at the clutch side is starting to leak. It lasted 400,000 kms so it has earned its money. I will also replace the clutch while I am at it (also 400,000 kms). Is it advisable to also change the dual mass flywheel? A complete kit with including the flywheel is 200 euro more ...

Re: Battery charge fault and no heater fan

You think you can now access the information on your electrical schematics? D8 :?: Interesting, i always thought mine was a D9. 🤷‍♂️ I think you are right. But https://406coupeclub.org/Apps_BuildCodeTranslator.php says that D9 have a DAM number sticker on the door, D8 have it printed on the strut. ...

Re: Battery charge fault and no heater fan

Yes, that must be 8852. Build date: Friday, 2nd February 2001. Build code is on nearside front suspension strut under the bonnet, so it must be a D8 (D9 has a sticker on the door).

Re: Battery charge fault and no heater fan

My DAM is "385 2U5" , vin number is VF38CXFXA81270589 if you perhaps need it as well. That is not a valid DAM number? It translates to date of 27 may 1987. https://406coupeclub.org/Apps_BuildCodeTranslator.php shows where the sticker is located. I'm afraid I cannot translate the VIN number to the D...

A similar topic seems to be https://406coupeclub.org/PHPBB3/viewtopic.php?t=42121 . Solution in that case was the fitting of a new alternator.

Re: Battery charge fault and no heater fan

Also it is a good idea to connect with PP2000 software via a Lexia cable on the OBD port (just google "lexia cable pp2000"). Read out the fault codes, especially those of the BSI.

Re: Dual mass flywheel?

I think your clutch OEM part no is 2004V1 (see number 1 here)

As far as I can see your vehicle does not have a dual-mass flywheel (but I'm not 100% sure).
