Re: 406S?
Did you mean on the last few models 2003/2004?
In the end you could get an S an SE and the Exec.
The S was fairly basic, white dials, grey dash inserts rather than "wood", chrome door handles and a few bits, sporty-looking seats, 16" alloys and a couple of exterior chrome trims.
The SE added Half Leather and Shat Nav?
The Exec offered nothing it hadn't already really apart from perhaps the "David Dickinson" leather option?
I R prepared to be corrected though.

Re: 406S?
I think welly's pretty much right there, but I thought the Rapier was the bargain basement version, S a bit plusher, SE was more or less an exec, but with half leather and lacking the seat memory - not sure about the crap nav tho.

Re: 406S?
I think the excellent* Sat-Nav system was an optional extra, there seems no pattern to which models have it......
I have seen GLX with and without, also SE without and an S with..???

Re: 406S?
I recently bought a 53 plate S estate just to sell on and was surprised to see the Sat Nav fitted,it was a one owner car and according to the owner it was a demonstrator so perhaps that's why it had it (didn't work though!) but it did have a crystal clear C display though!

Re: 406S?
It's in a safety deposit box in a bank vault. Actually it's on the shelf in the garage and I don't know whether to sell it or keep it as a spare for my car which also has a totally clear display,at the moment.

Re: 406S?
My first 52-plate exec didn't have sat nav, this one has - it's never really worked, but it does have a near perfect type C display, (with added cooling fan).

Re: 406S?
Is it the heat that knackers them up then?

Re: 406S?
Not really sure, the theory is keeping it cooler can't do any harm and may help.

Re: 406S?
I've said this before, but my money is on moisture rather than heat as a cause of lines, of course the fan will help with that as well, drawing air over it and reducing the amount left to settle overnight.
I purchased a perfect c display in the summer, it was fine all summer, but and at the minute when I get in the car I'm missing lines. after a while they return when the air dries out. (i only use the car infrequently as I work from home)
The ghosting in the corners mind is definitely heat related...
