Well the 2.2 170 maps to 215. Makes you wonder how much of that 136 --> 170 is hardware and how much is software.
The 170 has an 1800 bar fuel system and piezo injectors capable of up to 9 separate injections / cycle, compared the 136's 1350 bar & 3 injections / cycle. Not sure how the twin turbo setup compares with the AP1549 VNT on mine, but it's not likely to be a retrograde step. The newer engine seems to be aimed more at better low speed response than out & out power.

On the run to the Gaydon meet, Disco and I did a little 'research' - the C5 won on low end response, but I suspect the Dogmobile actually had a few more beans ultimately. TBH it was probably due to the very wide power band you get with a remapped DW12. Lots of more modern stuff is as quick or quicker, until it runs out of puff and has to change gear.

I have mine.. And will have it for the rest of it's life.
Mine has only done 143.000 km's. The previous owner drove the car untill the drivebelt snapped, so I got it for free.. Rebuilt the engine, changed all the broken bushes, brakes, clutch etc. etc.
spent way too much money on it all in all :P But, I love my car(s). Sad thing though is that some ass backed his truck right onto my hood, crushing my headlights, grille, hood and slam-panel...

Currently on the lookout for those parts in matching color so I don't have to respray.. for some reason MOGE/M4GE (China blue) phase1's are HARD to come by here in Norway.. most are silver, red, green or that MOMP-blue (rhodes?) color..

Future plans were to upgrade the suspension.. Been looking at yellow koni's with H&R springs.. or a K2 Sport coilover-kit I also can get for a decent price.

They're tuning it for vans aren't they?

That power band on the remapped 136 is astonishing.

:arrowu: :arrowu: Ignore that for some stupid reason i hit submit before saying anything and i can't edit it? :?

Regarding "tuning it for vans" i saw a camper van a few weeks back with an hdi136 lump in it, it looked a hefty big thing to drive maybe their tuning it for sporty old grampa's in their campers?

Think it was in a Bailey.

Look in the Volvo corner for why I just went BACK into a 406!
I've done a lot of miles in 406s and other stuff between.

Would I be a tard to reply 2 years after the last reply, to say 'yes'?

Not to mention that I could use some good recommendations for good used parts (rack, door rubbers and ac control unit).
I'm from Trinidad btw... :cheesy:

Good stuff Ben :D

Are you still happy with your reconditioned injectors :?:

Mines on 128k now & going grand but the injectors are still not right, I've done everything else so might as
well sort these out too.
Just can't decide whether to get mine original ones refurbed or get some newer 307 ones as there supposed
to be more durable :?

Regards Paul.

I've heard good things about the 307 injectors :cheesy:

I was without a 406 for a couple of years but with a bit of luck and timing I managed to bag myself a fine 1998 406 V6 Coupe.

Here it is.... 8)

Its a poverty spec model, but only 76K miles, full history, new belts, new brakes and new AC system - its never failed an MOT and only ever one advisory in 2006 for a tyre...

I've fitted a new exhaust and newer tyres since I bought* it last July, otherwise it just needs a bit of tinkering.

Even for the two years without a 406 I still loitered here and on the Coupe forum :supafrisk:

I did up until it finally let go just after Christmas, it now sat at the bottom of my drive waiting to be sent off to the breakers. The clutch started slipping to the point it was almost un driveable the constant bsi seizures and alternator not wanting to work as and when it felt like. Replaced it with a 2009 focus st.

Still driving my HDI happily, at 580 k km (363 k miles). Checked fault codes yesterday: none present :cheesy:. Last MOT was "technically perfect", but failed initially because one of the front fog lights was misaligned and gave an "unclear image" :frown: (stricter rules in NL since may 2018 that I wasn't aware of).

I do most of the maintenance myself, limiting myself to only the necessary stuff. Oil change once a year (at around 65 k km per year).

Things to be done the coming year:
- Cambelt change (the 5-th in its lifetime :) )
- New tyres (current set is at 130 k km)
- Maybe a new clutch (current is at 300 k km and the bite point is getting higher).

Things i never had to replace / never had any problems with (touching wood):
- Break pads / disks (currently lasting at least 300 k km!). I don't drive slow, but i guess anticipative driving style helps.
- Alternator
- Aircon
- Injectors
- Head gasket
- MAF sensor (or any other sensor)
- Electronic boxes (like ECU, BSI, BM34, COM2000, ABS)
Current "fleet":
2003 406 Estate 2.0HDi 110 - 7 seater
2001 Citroen Saxo 1.6i 8v 100

Previously owned:
2000 406 Sedan 2.0 HDi 90
2000 406 Coupé 2.0i 16v 138 - Riviera Blue

PP2000 user, can help with faults / diagnostics in the Netherlands.

I still have one, mostly driven by my wife. I would probably have one too if they hadn't got so ridiculously expensive. I still think they are the best car I have driven in over 60 years of motoring, certainly the most reliable.

I now have an equally old C220 Cdi Merc estate, its nice but I still feel more at home in the 406.
