Hi all
I have just purchased a pp2000 kit from another forum member and have been into the additive ecu
It gave me a code for additive thermostat circuit defective
Would I be right in assuming that the thermistor in the tank has gone?
If so can it be repaired?
Has anyone repaired one or is it a new tank?
I would like to thank Paul who I bought the kit off for his time on the phone earlier
Thanks in advance
Steve

Re: Pp2000 additive reset
Hi Steve, glad you got Paul's old PP2000 - its well worth the money.
I'm sorry I can't be too specific on the additive reset, its not something I had to do on my old 406 ( de-fapped ) but I think it was in the Maintenance section of the first menu, as I had to sort a 307's FAP with a forced regen...
I believe RWB has done it several times on his 407 - maybe send him a message?

Re: Pp2000 additive reset
The thermistor is actually the level sensor - in a bit of barmy french logic* they pass a small current continuously through the thermistor, which is enough to warm it up in the absence of a tankful of additive to dissipate the heat. The ecu can spot the resulting change in resistance as the thermistor heats up, triggering the low additive warning. Fine so far, except that after a little while the thermistor burns out.....
If it were mine, I would save the cost of fixing the additive tank, topping up the fluid etc. (which you may need to do more than once), and lose the dpf. It'll definitely save you money and give you a permanent fix.
Don't feel you've wasted money getting the PP2k set up, it'll almost certainly pay for itself several times over.

Re: Pp2000 additive reset
Thanks for all your replies.
I’ve just taken it out on the dual carriageway for an Italian tune up.
Got it nice and hot.
We’ll see how it does.
Is it complicated to defap it?
Thanks
Steve

Both my last 406s were defapped, no ill affects at all and flew through the MOT emissions....

Re: Pp2000 additive reset
Hi Steve,
Glad the pp2k working well for you
No problem on the phone, just for future reference my lunch is 12.30 - 1.00
My boss would have a field day if he knew I'd been on the phone for 35mins
5 or 10 no worries but best after 7.00pm or lunchtime if for longer.
De - faping, remove the D.F.P canister & wack the sxxt out of the insides with a podger / crowbar & lump hamer
Bolt it back together & ask on here for a de - fap file for your ecu.
Have a good look there's lot's on here on the subject
