Hi all,
My pug has developed a leak.
Its the heater connections in the engine bay.
Does anybody know whats holding the coolant in the tubes.
O-rings or some special stuffing? What size, don't want to drain the system before having the rights parts.

I've replaced those two water hoses - replaced one, then turned out I also had to replace the other. Consider replacing them both, as one dripping on the other will mask any leak that one has as well.
As I recall the part you order will have all the right O-rings included, and the securing clip is what keeps it tight at the firewall. The other end is secured with a hoseclamp to the water distributor on the engine block (for the two V6's at least).
In the picture you can see the retaining clip that holds it secure to the fitting. Remove that one and it will come off without too much resistance.
Wasn't a bad job, but of course a bit messy. I drained the system first. If your coolant is sufficiently new you can perhaps route a hose from the drain point on the radiator and engine into a suitable coffee filter and collect it.
Could you see any reason for the leak in the old o-ring ie: a split, if so then it should work a treat
A good tip while your doing this is to smear a small amount of red rubber grease around the o-ring before installing
Best of luck DDD.

hi lads, I've got a leak on a hose that sounds like the one mentioned in this thread. Its the left hose going into the bulk head that apparently links to the heater matrix. I'm doing an average of 100 miles a day 5 days a week atm and need it fixed asap. I'm keep topping it up daily to stop it over heating so need to get the o-rings asap or do I take it to a local garage? If you can link me to the right o-rings it may speed up the process as a garage may not have them in stock given the age?
oh its a 406 rapier hdi if that helps?
