So whose 406 was best in show?

Re: Best in show
I reckon the best in show was CaptainJack. Very tidy motor -- complete with welton panel. That's certainly the one I'd want to take home.
But the star of the show was the tubby

Re: Best in show
Out of non-coop Peugeot's - I liked Waue's blinged up motor for the looks and doggy's 2.2HDi for the power
Out of all Peugeot's though, I'd take mjb's coop home. Never ages, that thing....
I did like the C5. Very posh and as comfortable as an old shoe. Quick too....

Ahh, cheers Sam. Especially coming from an avid detailer like yourself. Mine does let itself down when you get close enough to see the dings & stonechips.
Reckon MJBs coupe gets the prize for best noise when he pulled up (although there was only me & the boy there to hear it) while Teamy's V40 gets least noise award - I've heard Prius's make more noise than that GDi did on the way past.
As for the main poll (which really does need editing to add MJB's coupe & Omega's 2.1 Exec) Plod's D8.5 got my vote. If you took the clocks out, few people would say it has a 6 figure mileage reading & the wheels & coloured mouldings give it enough to stand out from the crowd without looking like a boy racer Halfords raid.

Of course the downside to editing the poll is that you have to recast your vote.waue1978 wrote:.

Don't worry Dave, I've recast it already.

Re: Best in show
Sorry guys; votes got reset when I added my coop. Obviously mine's the best
but I did think Waue's looked pretty smart especially with the S&B coupé alloys

Difficult call, Captain Jack's is very smart, Waue's is a tribute to the hard work & attention to detail that's gone into it, but Plod's impressed me most, it was close though.

Re: Best in show
Thanks Waue and Doggy, most appreciated
Cars :
MJB - a V6 coupe, how wrong can you go, but was showing it's battle scars
Doggy - My favourite 406 colour, plus the power of the 2.2! - When I first tried it, the power delivery felt similar to my own, and I wasn't sure on how good it was, but it's difficult without doing back to back, and a quick spin up the road in my own, I could tell, yes the delivery was similar to my own, being very smooth and available from 1500rpm onwards and didn't feel like it was running out of puff, but the speed was coming up quicker in the doggymobile
As it would seem inappropriate to vote on my own car
There was one that stood head and shoulders above the rest, and i'm not recipricating due to the nice words from himself about mine, but the pictures i've seen on the forum don't do it justice, but Waue's car was the one for me

Re: Best in show
Considering Pols started talking engines...
Drove CaptinJacks 110 with a remap and it had propper turbo lag and give you a propper kick in the back of the neck when you hit about 2,000rpm and pulled like hell after that!
I also drove Dogslifes 2.2 Remapped and it was much much smother, quick look at the speedo and it's definatley faster but it didn't have that initial 'Woosh'.
For some insane reason Disco let me drive the C5
Now higher up it felt exactly like Doggys, but because it's BiTurbo it had awesome grunt low down, I was changing gear at 1500rpm, to put my foot back down and it start pulling like a train again
But by 'Best in show' I go for what the cars look like, and you cannot beat a Diablo 406 when it's been cleaned well. I must also say in the pictures I didn't like Wau's alloys, but they look great in person!

Re: Best in show
Diablo is definitely the nicest colour.
It sounds like you could push that C5 round on under 2000rpm all the time. I wonder what sort of economy you could get out of it.
