Have you got access to PP2000, as you can activate the fader function in there - its because it thinks there are no rear speakers

My old 406 once forgot it had rear speakers, I had to activate them again.....
1999 T4 family wagon, slow as a turd but the kids like it
2002 Citroen Xsara Picasso Hdi90 - Dirtied by the kids, Dented by the wife....
Sadly sold the 406, best cars I have ever owned
PP2000 user, can help with faults / diagnostics in the Bournemouth area.

You need the PP2000 hardware, so even though you'll probably find the software online you're not closer to a solution. There may be someone near you with PP2000 (it is the same hardware for citroen-cars), but otherwise you could consider ordering one online. They're not too expensive, and they make a *lot* of sense with a 406, since they can access some of the computers that generic testers usually can't.
