Do I have the JBL system?

Post by RobMorris » Tue Aug 11, 2015 3:16 pm

Chaps

I have a 2002 2.2 HDI Coupe.

It has a Clarion Tape deck up front and a CD changer in the boot.

None of the speaker grills have a JBL logo on them apart from the ones in the rear shelf?

Is this normal? it does go very loud, but doesnt have much bass.

Can a Subwoofer be easily added in the boot? Maybe via a LOC off a rear speak wire? As I do not want to replace the headunit.

Cheers

Have a look behind the boot carpet on the left; there should be an amplifier for the JBL system. The rear JBL speakers are good quality and should produce nice bass, I assume you've set your preferences in the cars head unit?

Thanks I shall take a look after work.

I have played with the settings. Maybe I should just turn up the bass but i didnt want to distort or worse blow the speakers. I would like to add a subwoofer to produce the bass. leave the speakers for mids and highs.

Sorry I meant on the 'right' there.

You won't blow any speakers by having the bass/volume high it will be very uncomfortable and distorted for you long before you damage the speakers.

Indeed I have a JBL amp perched behind the Clarion CD Changer on the left.
Also looking under the parcel shelf the rear speakers have JBL printed on the magnets.
On the right I have what looks like a sat nav 'thingy' requiring disk? No idea where the visual output would be if it was a sat nav?!

Hi Rob, the button on the end of the wiper stalk scrolls through a menu on the MFD, one of which will be the GPS ( probably greyed out )

I can supply you with a 2005 disc, the latest available, if you want to test your system, did you get a remote control for the MFD?
