I've searched - need Lexia 3 recommendation

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

I've searched - need Lexia 3 recommendation

Post by pauby » Wed Feb 19, 2014 3:17 pm

Hoping somebody can help.

I've been meaning to buy Lexia 3 for a while for the car, or to start with look into it. Now I have mine (2001 406 LX Diesel Estate) and the missus car (a 99 406 Diesel Rapier) both with engine management lights on. I also have the old problem of neither remote working anymore.

There are so many kits out there. Can somebody poi the me to one they've bought and worked well for them? I have PP 2000 (probably way out of date now) that I've never used.

Hopefully I'm on the right track. I did search in here for Lexia but got nowhere!

With regards to the key fobs I've tried the usual fixes... Nothing has worked. Key used to work prior to battery change.

Any help appreciated.

It's difficult to make a recommendation, unless someone has purchased their own recently. Most of us who have one have had it for ages and have no idea who the seller was.

Two possible ways forward:

1. Establish a sensible price, (probably £70 - £80 these days) and find a UK seller on eBay, in case you have to return it.

2. Look up jasper5's posts - he got one last year from someone relatively local to him, who gave great free support.

Actually, the seller is in Scotland :D

The cost is more than you would expect from some of the Ebay sellers, but the backup service is second to none, well worth the extra cost....he will even set it up onto your computer if you ask!

I got a discount for being a member of Peugeotforums, I'm not sure he still offers that though.

I have no hesitation in recommending him.

I got mine recently from here: http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... 1322313469

Instructions weren't the best, had to restart installation a few times but got there eventually with a lot of googling (I'll post my experience in another thread).

I wasn't able to get DiagBox 7.04 to talk to my engine ECU (Siemens HDi), but I upgraded all the way to 7.33 and it works fine now. It also should in theory work with all Peugeots and Citroens from '95 to the current models - PP2000/Lexia are quite old now so don't work with a lot of newer models (I've also heard some people say PP2000 doesn't work at all with Siemens ECUs).

Also I'm not sure why they call these devices "Lexia" - that's the name of the old Citroen software. The device itself is an Actia "PSA XS Evolution".

There's loads of people selling pretty much the same thing - the only real difference is the customer support and software provided, but since the software not the most legitimately-sourced stuff out there it can be found online if you look in the right places :cheesy:

Guys thanks for the replies on this one.

Because of the support offered I went for the Lexia 3 from EasyDiagnostics as recommended by Jasper5.

Hopefully that is all I will need for the time being!

Thanks again.

Hi All, I am looking at buying something to do some diagnostic work or do a little practice in case i need to do something. I will probably go for Jasper5's recommendation. Did it work out for you. Cars 99 and hopefully a 2001 all 110 models. I take it the one is the Lexia 3 Diagbox at £92.65.
