What's people's opinions on enforced sig size limits?

I'm just asking cos I've just gone through hell trying to read several forums on an old laptop. Turns out it was pages of huge animated sigs (500KB to a ludicrous 12MB) causing it to croak, and I've noticed a couple popping up here too. I don't usually notice these things as, other than pages being slow to scroll through as I'm usually on fast internet connections, but they really do hurt when connecting via a dialup or even worse on a mobile, especially when on a contract where data prices are sky high...

Can we please have a limit to sigs to keep the browsing standards up?
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
