Re: Fuel choice for your next car?

I see many cars, mostly Clios to be fair, that have writing on the back that says 'Powered by Fairy Dust'... Does anyone know where I can get this stuff, as it isn't available at my local fuel station.? Talking of emissions, my neighbour has a newish FIAT convertible thing which is fast* approaching...

Re: 2000 406 Estate 2.0 Hdi 110 exec - Flat spot/intermittent turbo lag

I agree, the MAF sensor is the usual culprit, however I suspect a sticking EGR valve may also have a similar effect. This can be temporarily disabled to eliminate it as faulty. I would try injector cleaner and super diesel for a few tank fulls too - given the mileage, just to see if it feels any dif...

Re: Just bought another 406 estate!

I'm pretty sure the LX doesn't have the power connector required for the electric seats but the other connectors are there.. ( I tried to fit GLX seats in an LX a few years back but no power connector to be found, despite tracing the other wires back ) although knowing Peugeot it seems a bit hit and...

Re: Just bought another 406 estate!

That looks an absolute steal - well done Peter :cheesy: I think it is indeed Moonstone, and your bonnet edge looks excellent..! I'm not keen on the grey interior trim on the later models, I always replace it with the nice Black Ash variety. Good luck with this one. Edit: I wish I had the amount of o...

Re: Just bought another 406 estate!

Well done Peter, what better car is there to replace a 406 with..?
A 406 of course :cheesy:
Can I hedge a bet on it being a silver 110?

Hi Phil, welcome :cheesy: Sadly I can't see your pictures as I'm not on Farcebook - too many keyboard warriors, attention seekers and snowflakes... The 406 is a great all rounder, although I haven't owned the turbo version before but I bet it's a laugh...! I'm sure you are well aquatinted wit...

I agree - it's probably cheaper to get the welding done than buy skirts, possibly fail the MOT, or have a bigger problem in a year or so...

Well done :cheesy:
It'll save you money, time, and you can also help other Peugeot/Citroen owners local to you with a diagnosis.

Re: Fuse box diagram

+2 for wet footwell syndrome - it might feel dry on top but a reservoir underneath.... Just to add, if yours is a saloon model then it's possible you have a leaky rear light instead, which is getting the CD changer connection wet ( I think it's a blue plug tucked down the left side boot cubby hole.....

Re: 406 LX 2.0 HDI

If you can't hear the pump cut in then a whack with a piece of wood or something might jar it back into life to get you home..... Edit - I assume you have a lift pump and not a priming bulb....? Edit the edit - I've just read back and no priming bulb, silly me. I believe the main hp fuel pump also h...

Re: Antipollution Fault

The MAF is unplugged to determine the reason for sluggish performance at lower revs, sometimes it's improved, sometimes not... The braking and EML light is confusing me - I'm trying to figure out in my mind what the Hdi90 has that could lead to this - the vacuum system is basic so I don't think it's...

Re: How many forum users still actually drive a 406

Here it is.... 8) Its a poverty spec model, but only 76K miles, full history, new belts, new brakes and new AC system - its never failed an MOT and only ever one advisory in 2006 for a tyre... I've fitted a new exhaust and newer tyres since I bought* it last July, otherwise it just needs a bit of ti...

Re: How many forum users still actually drive a 406

I've heard good things about the 307 injectors :cheesy:

I was without a 406 for a couple of years but with a bit of luck and timing I managed to bag myself a fine 1998 406 V6 Coupe.
