Re: Finaly had a nice day to take some pic's

Hi mate, nice car.

Exactly the same as mine, without the dents, or scratches, or high mileage...

Re: Central Locking & Airbag problems... Help!?

Hi, try a BSI reset, info here on the forum. As for the airbag light, the culprit is normally the orange wire for the passenger pre-tensioner. Make sure ignition is off - and has been for 5 mins - and try unplugging and replugging repeatedly all the different connectors under the passenger seat, eve...

Re: IMMOBILISER

Hmmm, not great news but can be sorted with a few phone calls and some diagnostic work. When you got the car, did it have a 4 digit number on a plastic card? This is the number that needs to be typed into the diagnostic program to re-calibrate the keys to the car. If you don't have it then there are...

Re: Just about dip my toe into 406 diesel world

Hi chap, I think the 90 will struggle pulling the caravan, I used to tow scrap cars to the scrapyard with my 90 and was okay until you met a hill, or a slope, even the flat roads actually. On its own it is more than adequate, but the 110 is the best all-rounder for performance with economy, the 2.2h...

Re: 406 Hdi not reving past 2400

HI, don't mean to talk down to you or anything but have you tried the basic stuff like throttle cable slack ( common problem ) or throttle position sensor ( more common problem ) ? Sounds like you know what you are doing, there are a few chaps on here who may have some wise words.... My old 9...

Re: help needed

Does the whining from the rear wheel stop if you gently take up the slack on the handbrake? The 406 handbrake is kind of its achilles heel.... :? As far as over-revving, mine did it when I first collected it and drove it home but it turns out the throttle clip was 1 notch too close to the throttle h...

Re: Loss of turbo boost?

Hi CJ, yes it does to me. Sometimes my car goes better if I use half-throttle rather than flooring it. Cleaning is easy enough and after reading most of your threads you are a very capable chap.. :cheesy: It won't fix it but be easier to live with until you can get a new one, or diagnose it a...

I need to siphon the fuel from my donor car too but keep forgetting and end up going to petrol station..

What technique did you use, I have already removed and sold the fuel lines in the engine bay but can access them under back seat.

Re: Breaking a Hdi 110 Rapier 2003 Estate

Hi David, PM sent.

I only mentioned the push fit ones as I originally thought you had a 7 seater. The screw in ones are not compatible with 7 seaters as the boot carpet is an inch thicker and the extra seats have clips built in.

I will dig out the clips later, when my boys are in bed.

Re: Breaking a Hdi 110 Rapier 2003 Estate

The 7 seats were easy to fit, just bolt in and they are easy to lift up or fold away - takes seconds to do. I bought mine for £75 from eBay. I don't notice the lack of height in the boot, only when I lower ' middle row ' seats to carry bulky things and there is a bit of a lip and hard to drag thinks...

Re: Breaking a Hdi 110 Rapier 2003 Estate

Hi David. I only guessed it was a 7 seat as the rear blind is only really used for the benefit of the extra 2 in the boot. I have a blind but the tailgate cover is being used as it has the emergency exit button in it. The blind fits into a slot in this cover so it can retract, or it would just flap ...

Re: Breaking a Hdi 110 Rapier 2003 Estate

Hi David, I guess yours is the 7 seater as the rear blind fits into a slot on the boot lid cover. I removed mine from the 7 seat conversion I bought for my car as it rattled too much..!! When you say lock down clips, do you mean the silver ones you screw in near the back-door or the push-fit black o...

Re: Newbie Intro

Hi David, welcome.

Good choice of car too, very reliable and cheap to run.

I joined around a year ago and have learned so much about my car, how to fix it and generally good advice and help from everybody. This is a very good forum - has saved me time and money maintaining my 406.
