Re: Rear wiper problems

I've got this on my estate too... It's not the relay as you can hear it click off halfway through the sweep - but a BSI reset sorted mine. I've also got water ingress in the drivers footwell, where the major connector running from front to back is located so worth lifting the carpet and checking the...

Re: A/t tyres on 15" 406 Estate

Try a website called willtheyfit.com and here you can type in all the measurements of your current tyres and the size you are looking for and you will see a wire diagram of how they will fit in the arch, and the difference in circumference and Speedo reading... Sorry for the late reply - I missed th...

Re: Front end knocking

Agreed, droplinks are a 406 weak spot.
If you find these are the culprit, try to buy a reputable brand like Lemforder, otherwise you'll be doing it again next year....

Re: 406 HDI estate parts available

Hi, I've decided to sell my recently purchased estate car, as I've bought a V6 Coupe instead, which was a bargain...
My friend would still like the MFD, so if you wouldn't mind giving me a price Inc postage and I'll pass the information on.
Many thanks,
Kelv

Re: OEM wheels for brembo V6

With the exception of the 15" Starfish alloys on the 2.0ltr petrol models - these are not suitable for Brembos.

Re: My GTX

Are you planning to completely remove the EGR and pipework, or just slide a descrete one in either end?
I chose to do the latter, purely for peace of mind in case I encountered an over zealous MOT inspector...

Re: OEM wheels for brembo V6

Those 'Tacoma' alloys are so rare in the UK, sadly, as these are one of my favourite wheels..
Although I also like the Lincancubar alloys on notrix's car :cheesy:

Re: power loss

Check the front reluctor rings for hairline cracks, as this is normally the culprit, if not the check the rear abs sensors inside the hubs have not been damaged by the handbrake shoe retaining pin falling out.... Other than these it's pot luck really - but diagnostic may point you in the right direc...

Re: power loss

That's a shame, the 406 is generally pretty robust. I'm sure it's a really simple fix, wiring or a sensor - however there comes a point where you need to stop spending, stop pulling your hair out and think about moving on.... I understand that, if a car isn't reliable ( whichever make it is ) then t...

Re: My GTX

I recently bought a clutch slave cylinder for my Coupe, but it was the wrong part ( my fault ) it was half price from GSF, £24, but it has a missing seal or connector on the end - worth checking before you leave the motor factors..... Also, a tip to bleed it is to force fluid into the slave cylinder...

Re: power loss

As long as the 2nd hand Comms is pre 2005 and the same functions ( front fogs, rear wash wipe etc ) then it should be okay - sellers mention part numbers but there are only 6? variants.....

Some come with ESP, but these will fit non-esp cars.

Re: intermittent non starting - again!

My old 306 was an Xud and it always needed glow plugs - even in the middle of summer, even with a warm engine..!!
Never failed to start in 13 years though, and only replaced the glow plugs twice in that time...
Never had an issue like yours though, sorry...

Re: power loss

Sadly that's not how the turbo solenoid works.. It uses vacuum to close ( so vacuum is always present at the solenoid when the engine is running ) and it shuts the vacuum off to release the vanes - it's a kind of over complicated backwards wastegate..! You've mentioned what's been replaced and to be...
