Re: Ebay Etc. Just "Run-In" 406s

Check out this absolute corker - I would have bought this regardless of the ear bashing from her indoors, had the car been a manual... https://www.gumtree.com/p/peugeot/peugeot-406-v6-3.0-24v-estate-automatic.-ice-cold-air-conditioning-sunroof-leather.-1-year-s-mot/1304545731 I haven't worked out ho...

Not quite poverty spec, I see the walnut on the doors and rear leccy windows - plus a sat nav screen..

Re: Rear hubs / handbrake

If you are changing the rear discs anyway, I would be inclined to tap the disc all around the hub area with a hammer, to shock any rust between the shoes and the disc.... If the adjuster is siezed then this could be the issue, if you can't unwind it then the shoe is permanently pressing against the ...

Re: Rear hubs / handbrake

Not meaning to sound patronising, but did you unwind the shoes before attempting to remove the disc? Truthfully it's normally the calipers that stick and get hot, as the slider parts seize up. Yes, the 406 handbrake is crap sometimes - it's okay when it's all set up and adjusted properly but it's no...

Re: 2.0. v 2.2 Hdi engines.

I used to adjust the handbrake and plastilube the calipers every 6 months or so - which seemed to keep me on top of it.
Only takes about an hour to do.

Re: Just saying hello

Hello, and welcome from Bournemouth :cheesy:

There is plenty of help here, and if you have 5 mins to spare then take a peek at the Knowledge Base Articles on the home screen for an idea of potential issues you may come across...

Enjoy the car, they are well under-rated if you ask me.!

Re: pp2000 maf sensor readings

It could be the laptop.... My first one was okay to start with but got slower and slower over the years - to the point I used to run out of small talk during a global scan.... Laptop number 2 is much better, slightly newer but way quicker - I'm still using my original diagnostic equipment, so for me...

Re: My error codes

I bought one for £20, the only issue is the poor quality connector for the OBD2 socket....
Pm me your email and I'll send couple of maps over.

Just a thought....
Have you taken up the slack on the throttle cable?

Re: pp2000 maf sensor readings

No harm in cleaning it, but it's very fragile, do be gentle. I've used a contact cleaner, also brake cleaner, as neither leave a residue...

250 at stand still sounds about right, 400 is okay too but anything nearer 600 before driving is a bit high...

Re: My error codes

I think the fuel additive ECU is tucked up behind the dashboard, on the left side - there are 2 there, one is silver, one is black, not sure which one you need. If you decide to defap, I can email you a generic map, and all your fault codes will disappear - except the pre/post relay as it's unrelated.

Re: 406 niggles nearly all fixed

Good work :cheesy:
Once PP2000 is up and running, you can check various things including the MAF sensor and injectors, which will help to diagnose potentially lack lustre performance..

Re: air bag ECU

Have you given all the connections on the ECU a good clean with a contact cleaner or something - worth a shot.

Re: air bag ECU

Is this a new fault, or have you bought the car with this fault already showing...

PP2000 can disable the faulty airbags to stop the light from flashing, but this isn't a fix.
If PP2000 cannot disable the airbag then there is a change the ECU needs replacing.

Sorry I can't help with the numbers.

Re: air bag ECU

I'm inclined to think it's the ECU that's faulty - maybe ingress of spilt Red Bull...?

The pretensioners are not showing the fault as far as I can tell...
