Re: need advoce maf sensor

Have a closer look at your picture.
Underneath you can see a long black part that goes through the loop - it's the end of this tab that you need to pull down at the tip and pull out only the grey part...

Re: Radio/cd player swap

Does your display have a button either side?
If so you probably just need new bulbs in the back to light it up....

Re: need advoce maf sensor

I don't think so ( it's been a while... )
I think it's a lift up tab in the middle on the underside of the connector - guess that makes it a pull down tab...
It can be stiff, sometimes a little leverage with a baby screwdriver helps.

Re: Factory info using VIN number ?

Yes, get yourself set up on Service Box - select your language ( box in the bottom right ) and enter your vin in the top left box - only need the last 8 digits.
Select 'characteristics' on the left and this will give the full specs of your car :cheesy:

Re: Seen any 19 Plates?

I has seen one - although I can't for the life of me remember what it was..
They do seem a bit sparse at the moment, compared to the 18 plates.

Re: and today i have mostly been...

Isn't the same engine in the 407?
It's the one John raves about as being both reasonably spritely with respectable economy.
I like it :cheesy:

Re: Fitting Replacement Battery

Hi, the only reason as far as I know for leaving the driver's window down is so you can reach in and remove the keys if the car decides to lock itself upon reconnecting the battery...
Oh, and so you can reach in to put the sidelights on - part of the BSI procedure but I've never done it...

Re: End of an era

End of an era indeed Eric. The Dogmobile2 was and probably always will be the only 406 that put a smile on my face as soon as I drove it, it's low down torque and the 6 speed box made for very entertaining driving. All good things must come to an end, truthfully I don't know of another car that will...

Re: More Gremlins

Well done Cliff :cheesy:
This would have probably been the reason for most of your issues - just need to find the leak now.
Sunroof drain clearing should be done routinely, unless like me you just cut the bottom end bits off.!

Re: More Gremlins

If you can get over 6" of matching wire then you can bridge the connector while it's still connected ( by going over the top wire by wire ) using the same colour/number wires - sounds like it might work.?

Re: More Gremlins

That is definitely the culprit, and should also sort your ABS out ( this connector carries signals from back of the car to the ECU etc )
Take many pictures, and don't rush it - my friend David did his soldering and has had no problems since.
Best of luck.
