Re: Door courtesy light

Thinking about it, I've never had one in bits so I don't know if the socket is clipped into the a-post with just the plug on the end of the flexi, I've seen this in other cars anyway.

Re: Door courtesy light

That sounds very much like a broken wire in the door feed. Yes, on a full-mux car there is a connector (I don't think there is one on a semi but that could just be the rears)The diagram shows it, errr, in the a-post? No idea how high, take the kick panel off (again) and have a squint. http://www.406...

Re: Backplates

It's to provide Pierre and Jean-Michelle some entertainment. Umm, brake caliper on those nubs sticking out, brake shoe retainers, keeps crap out, umm, that's it really.

I'm still trying to work out what LTR means, Left Testicle Ruptured?

Re: Backplates

Backplate anyone? On ebay for 20 quid, nearside (that's left isn't it?). Looks a bit mangled to me but appears hole free.Image

There's mention of some other stuff but I'm not sure if it's all together or separate.

Re: and today i have mostly been...

Yesterday I asked our neighbour Kruno if he had a welder, his dad was a welder so I wasn't surprised when he said yes, it's very old, 3 phase and MASSIVE, but he knows someone with some new fangled welder that's so small you can go up and down ladders with it :o Not got hold of Miloš yet, I'll see h...

Re: petrol tank retaining strap 406 est

If it helps all D8 cradles appear to be the same, left and right, saloon, estate and coupe (Service Box only lists the two anyway). D9's start out the same (up until RPO 08570) but then it gets weird

And the LPG tank was toroidal. Yeah, me neither.

Pees :?

Re: HOW MANY MILES HAS YOUR PUG COVERED?

I'm sure you'd be justified clocking it over to all zeros. Not that I'd know how to do that  Buggery bollocks, it'd have to happen in the only country it matters :( Btw I love the way your government robs.. er. charges everyone equally regardless of how fuel efficient their car actually is. Yo...

Re: Vibration turning left at low speeds

Why only turning left though? Maybe the pick up is on the right of the reservoir :? Glad you got it sorted anyway, doubly so as if left too long you'd probably have scrapped the pump

Re: and today i have mostly been...

Now, there's something else I didn't realise, I saw some of the speciality rods need care, but I'd not considered it for the boggo ones. Meanwhile I've been a-planting shallots. Not really sure why as I've been told to lay off the onions, but I've had these going from a bag I bought in the veg secti...

Re: HOW MANY MILES HAS YOUR PUG COVERED?

OMFG!  It'll be km as there's only 1 scale on the speedo, also the money light bulb's blown... So, stuck at 999,999km, nobody will know if it's done more than that. It's irrelevant as 406's are meant to have burst into flames/exploded/fallen to bits long before that anyway. You should...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

Lord knows, so it doesn't matter when it moves about? I've used mig for years (probably quite poorly) but arc is a closed book to me. Looks like 6013 2.5mm rods at up to 140 amp will do the job. Probably - there's very little out there that says "you will need such-and-such", most advice seems to be...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

I've just been investermagating, it took some finding but that welder will only run the full whack on 3-phase, on 230 volts it'll only do 115 amps, which is hardly any better than what I have already. This house does have a 3-phase feed but no wiring for it. They also do Telwin migs (Italian, sold t...
