Re: AL4 Auto Box - Anyone performed the Borg Warner Solenoids upgrade?

Brilliant! Many thanks for the information, Will - invaluable! (Word format is no problem btw) Have had a good read and watched the suggested 4 YT clips - just need to brush up on my Russian! Further research shows that the Citroen fraternity suffer from this misery too - quite a lot of reference ma...

Re: AL4 Auto Box - Anyone performed the Borg Warner Solenoids upgrade?

Considering replacing around 1/4 of the gearbox oil made a huge difference. Why not get 20 litres or so if the cheapest ATF that meets required specification you can and do a number of drain and fills to get the old stuff out? I'd be tempted to drop the sump, give it a clean, replace the filter and...

Re: AL4 Auto Box - Anyone performed the Borg Warner Solenoids upgrade?

Hi Will. Many thanks for the extremely heartening reply. Great to hear it from someone who has actually been there, hands on! Guess the only way I will find out which solenoids are existing is to get in there and have a look then. Uncharted territory for me here - how accessible is the valve box ie ...

Re: AL4 Auto Box - Anyone performed the Borg Warner Solenoids upgrade?

Have you checked what solenoids your gearbox currently has in it? It may have the newer solenoids in it which just need replacing. If it has the older solenoids, the ecu needs reflashing as the newer ones operate on a different frequency. Getting to the solenoids is relatively easy as the transmiss...

Re: AL4 Auto Box - Anyone performed the Borg Warner Solenoids upgrade?

[quote=Bailes1992 post_id=252557 time=1558523090 user_id=1836 When you say you changed the gearbox oil, did you just drain & fill following the leveling sequence? Or did you remove a gearbox cooler pipe and drain the entire gearbox? usually the gearbox will hold 10+ litres of ATF but you can only ge...

AL4 Auto Box - Anyone performed the Borg Warner Solenoids upgrade?

I have been tolerating the situation with my 2.0 110 HDi Auto where the transmission will drop into 'limp mode' (stuck in 3rd gear) with the Snow and Sport lights flashing for some time now but my patience is wearing thin! I experienced this after originally purchasing the car two years ago and, fol...

Re: Crankshaft pulley on 110 hdi.

Thanks Jasper. I should have just braved it out and tried it. As it was, I capitulated and passed the job to my local garage. They called me yesterday to say the crank bolt sheared and that they will have to get the 'bolt Doctor' to get the rest of the crank bolt out! Going to add another £300 to th...

Re: Crankshaft pulley on 110 hdi.

Thanks Peter for the quick reply!
Yes, I did read the 'starter' method. Bit daunting but obviously works.
Should the ignition be disabled some way to stop the engine actually firing up?
Also, does the fact I have an automatic transmission have any bearing i.e. Should this method work still?

Re: Crankshaft pulley on 110 hdi.

Sorry for the late post here as I see it is an old thread. I am struggling badly to remove the CS pulley bolt on my 2.0 110 HDi with auto gearbox. Could I just ask - is the thread normal direction or left handed? In an attempt to remove the bolt, assuming normal anti-clockwise loosening, I only succ...

Re: aux belt pulley squeak - only when ac is running

Thanks for the advice Doggy. Changed the belt today and squeak has gone! I did notice though that the tensioner pulley is 'bouncing' at tick over. This stabilises once the revs are increased slightly, prob over 1200+, but returns when back at idle. Don't imagine this is normal - any idea what the fi...

aux belt pulley squeak - only when ac is running

Hi all. I have been chasing the ubiquitous Aux belt squeak/chirping sound on my 2.0 HDi 110. I have discovered it is only present when the AC is turned on and compressor running. Turn the AC off and you can hear the load on the engine ease and the squeaking goes away. Is this going to need a new AC ...

Oh, well - I'll keep looking

Re: Remap - is it still a feasible option.

The dpf friendly one I reckon would suit your car. No DPF on my car. Thats why I was thinking of going for the Stage 1 remap, the 145BHP one. Injectors are well worth replacing, I bought a genuine bosch rebuilt set, they were £100ea but they were easily the best thing I've done for the car. Makes t...

Re: Remap - is it still a feasible option.

The 110 engine can be remapped to give useful additional performance with no known downsides BUT I have never heard of anyone doing it with an auto. I did email Steven at hdi-tuning and asked, amongst other questions, if being an automatic would make it still possible to remap. I didn't get an answ...

correct crankshaft pulley part no. for 2.0 hdi 110 ?

Hi all. Well, having surmised that the crankshaft pulley almost certainly is the culprit for the ominous intermittent high pitch squeaking (which has a 'metallic' sound to it) I, pointlessly, contacted the local Pug parts dept to make enquiry. I had already read there are a number of different pulle...
