Re: Pp2000 additive reset

Both my last 406s were defapped, no ill affects at all and flew through the MOT emissions....
It's a grey area as far as being 100% legal or environmentally friendly, however it is very pocket friendly and performance friendly - it's your call.

Re: 406 estate door lock jamming

Hi, and welcome from me too. I agree with Doggy on the driver's door lock being at fault - can you remove the connector and clean the contacts with contact cleaner and a toothbrush..? I will add that the window weather strip was changed how it's held in place at some point - some are clipped in but ...

Re: Pp2000 additive reset

Hi Steve, glad you got Paul's old PP2000 - its well worth the money. I'm sorry I can't be too specific on the additive reset, its not something I had to do on my old 406 ( de-fapped ) but I think it was in the Maintenance section of the first menu, as I had to sort a 307's FAP with a forced regen......

Re: Happy New Year

My 2017 involved much stretching of tether as the kids have grown up*, but both of them are still around to see 2018 - not sure if it will be the whole year though....

Re: New owner

The outside temp sensor is an easy fix - it's the little black lump on the underside of the n passenger mirror. Replacements can be got from eBay, scrapyards etc and it's a case of removing the coloured part off the back of the mirror (carefully) and then popping the glass out by pulling the big spr...

Re: New owner

Hi, welcome to the club :cheesy: The 406 is a much underrated car - it's frugal, reliable, comfortable, spacious and loads of spares about. Until you own one then generally it's just considered to be a big unreliable French car...!! Bumpers are easily swapped, as are the wings and bonnet etc.. To se...

Re: Mayonnaise on dipstick

Could simply be condensation, which does happen on lots of short journeys - mayonnaise isn't always a head gasket diagnosis.
You can have a 'sniff test' done on the car - it's simply a reading done from the expansion tank.

Sounds like a good result from a decent garage 8)
Can I guess the next thing to go wrong? I'm going to go with starter motor.

Re: 2.2 HDi Estate

Looks good Frank.
I got 60+ mpg on a run, 45mog round town - so you may need some injector cleaner/ Italian tune up....?
3 keys and the key card is rare, and I guess it's SE spec?
Was this one of Nigel's cars?

Edit, I've just seen the pics close up - nice Executive model 8)

Re: seems my turn for trouble

Best get it sorted ASAP. It's only because of the proximity of the belt - it's a common thing for it to shred and get tangled in the cam belt - which isn't an ideal thing to happen. Aux belts are cheap and fairly easy to swap, a local garage should be up to the job at a reasonable cost - cheaper tha...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

One of the best advice I was given is.... Don't be a C*nt - take a shunt. I've only been driving the 26t for 4 years, but mostly round city streets which means you have to learn fast - I've only done 40k miles in 4 years which is nothing really - but that's 40k miles down teeny tiny roads with ridic...

Agreed - used to deliver our shower doors for Sunseeker boats on schedule - unlike the previous company...
Are you enjoying it?

Re: Dog Guards

I've seen them on eBay but I couldn't say if they were genuine Peugeot ones or just a good fit.
The executive 406s have little metal tie points behind little flaps by the grab handles - I believe these are for a dog guard......

Re: MOT pass

Well done Welly - luckily parts for Fords are quite cheap what with your fuel bills etc....
My 406 passed the last few Mots with no advisories - but only because I made sure the indicators were 'Orange enough'.
It must be a nice and slightly smug feeling knowing your next MOT is due in 2019.
