Re: 406 LX 2.0 HDI

If you can't hear the pump cut in then a whack with a piece of wood or something might jar it back into life to get you home..... Edit - I assume you have a lift pump and not a priming bulb....? Edit the edit - I've just read back and no priming bulb, silly me. I believe the main hp fuel pump also h...

Re: Antipollution Fault

The MAF is unplugged to determine the reason for sluggish performance at lower revs, sometimes it's improved, sometimes not... The braking and EML light is confusing me - I'm trying to figure out in my mind what the Hdi90 has that could lead to this - the vacuum system is basic so I don't think it's...

Re: How many forum users still actually drive a 406

Here it is.... 8) Its a poverty spec model, but only 76K miles, full history, new belts, new brakes and new AC system - its never failed an MOT and only ever one advisory in 2006 for a tyre... I've fitted a new exhaust and newer tyres since I bought* it last July, otherwise it just needs a bit of ti...

Re: How many forum users still actually drive a 406

I've heard good things about the 307 injectors :cheesy:

I was without a 406 for a couple of years but with a bit of luck and timing I managed to bag myself a fine 1998 406 V6 Coupe.

Re: Volvo MOT Pass - 10th year in a row

Well done from me too - 10 years is a long time to own any car, I only kept my Ford for a year....!! :supafrisk:

Yours is a nice car though, easily another 10 years worth of ownership.

Re: MFD backlight not working, bulbs ok.

I think yours is broken... Even with only 1 bulb working you will see some illumination - so I think something has gone pop inside the display - I had a similar thing with the wife's Picasso where one half was blank and one half stayed lit permanently..! As Doggy says, one from a scrap car or eBay w...

Re: interior repair

Hi, have you opened a Service Box account yet?
Here you will find all the specifications of your car ( including the interior colour name ) once you have written your VIN on the website.
I can't send a link as I'm not at home, but look for Peugeot Service Box.

Re: ROLLING COAL

My old 406 was remapped by Srdan (IQ93 map) which gave nearly 180bhp and zero smoke...
I don't think the 'more smoke, more poke' saying is correct anymore - maybe in the old days...

Re: going to have a go at welding the sills !

Slightly* off topic.... I put my carcinogenic T4 through an MOT and it failed on a fair few things, the main point being rust.. I mustard mitt I was fearing the eye watering sum of money to weld the inner and outer sill on both sides ( full length on the driver's side, half length on the pass...

Re: Wheel change and offset

You might get away with these wheels then - try it and see :cheesy: The 206 has an ET of 20-25 so only 10mm difference.

The offset and ET are the same thing, maybe the ET number is stamped on the back somewhere for clarification.

Re: Wheel change and offset

Do you know what Peugeot the new wheels came from?
The standard 406 has an ET of 15, which is different to later Peugeot models (307,206 etc)
Everything will line up properly, but your new wheels may rub the inner arch a bit.

Re: PP2000 help

Give it a go. Most PP2000 buyers receive 2 discs, one is Diagbox for later models (508 etc) and this resorts to a PP2000 file when selected - however you wouldn't be the first to experience difficulty with Diagbox on older cars. The 2nd disc is PP2000/Lexia, which is for models up to around 2010, so...

Re: PP2000 help

I just bought a cheap laptop from eBay and installed the disc, however it took a few tries.
I have since installed PP2000 on other people's laptops with success, so I believe Cliff has just a Diagbox CD and not the PP2000/Lexia disc.

Cliff, try the link above - it should hopefully sort you out.
