Re: power loss

Check the front reluctor rings for hairline cracks, as this is normally the culprit, if not the check the rear abs sensors inside the hubs have not been damaged by the handbrake shoe retaining pin falling out.... Other than these it's pot luck really - but diagnostic may point you in the right direc...

Re: power loss

That's a shame, the 406 is generally pretty robust. I'm sure it's a really simple fix, wiring or a sensor - however there comes a point where you need to stop spending, stop pulling your hair out and think about moving on.... I understand that, if a car isn't reliable ( whichever make it is ) then t...

Re: My GTX

I recently bought a clutch slave cylinder for my Coupe, but it was the wrong part ( my fault ) it was half price from GSF, £24, but it has a missing seal or connector on the end - worth checking before you leave the motor factors..... Also, a tip to bleed it is to force fluid into the slave cylinder...

Re: power loss

As long as the 2nd hand Comms is pre 2005 and the same functions ( front fogs, rear wash wipe etc ) then it should be okay - sellers mention part numbers but there are only 6? variants.....

Some come with ESP, but these will fit non-esp cars.

Re: intermittent non starting - again!

My old 306 was an Xud and it always needed glow plugs - even in the middle of summer, even with a warm engine..!!
Never failed to start in 13 years though, and only replaced the glow plugs twice in that time...
Never had an issue like yours though, sorry...

Re: power loss

Sadly that's not how the turbo solenoid works.. It uses vacuum to close ( so vacuum is always present at the solenoid when the engine is running ) and it shuts the vacuum off to release the vanes - it's a kind of over complicated backwards wastegate..! You've mentioned what's been replaced and to be...

Re: Newbie

Cool - any MFD from 2001 will be fine, older ones may need tweaking but worth it if it's cheap :cheesy:

Try to find one that shows it works okay, although it's only 3 little bulbs in the back of them if it's a bit dark...

Re: Newbie

Means nothing, sellers are just covering themselves.. Try to find one from the same age car as it saves having to adjust the BSI if it's not the same.. Older cars have a wired stereo control stalk, newer cars are Can-bus - this can be altered with diagnostic equipment but easier to get one from the ...

Re: Newbie

Hi, welcome to the club :cheesy: The 406 is a great all rounder, but I guess you know that already.! The type C is prone to failing, and several people have tried to fix it using various methods but so far nothing is intricate enough to do it.... If it bothers you, you can fit a Type B instead - its...

Re: 406 HDI estate parts available

The headlight is Indeed different between your runner and your spare - only the doors, tailgate, bumper and rear lights are compatible - everything from the windscreen forward is not interchangeable.
I'll let you know about the headlight shortly.
Thanks.

Re: 406 HDI estate parts available

Cool, thanks. The display is easy to remove, just pop out the little cover either side of the display and undo the 4 torx screws. Pull it out and unplug the black connector - it's one that you need to lift a clamp first before unplugging it. The headlights are only different on phase 1 and phase 2 m...
