Re: Optomistic or what

I had to go and replace the fridge in the flat I rent out as it's finally failed - I'm gutted as i bought it new in 1994...
Meanwhile the Mum in law's freezer has decided to defrost itself again, for the 3rd time in a year, and it's only* 4 years old*....

Re: 2.2 hdi DW12 Issue

Hi, it could be the turbo, as if the DPF has been blocked for some time then its a chance it has clogged completely and the back pressure has ruined the turbo seals..?? Maybe the EGR is blocked? Blocked fuel filter? If you are local to Bournemouth I'm happy to have a peek ( I have the Peugeot diagno...

Re: Undecided

Hi, welcome to the club :cheesy:
I may be wrong, but I think there are only 5 or 6 Hpi models left on the road.....

It's a good car though, could you sort the lock yourself and keep the car in the family..?

Re: Roof Console

I've got one, just dug it out of my shed....

It does look different to yours as my buttons are not the same - this one is from a 2004 exec.

Maybe you can post a picture of the back of yours and I'll check the connections are the same.

Re: Optomistic or what

Maybe a little bit....

I would rather buy a V6 conversion in a Peugeot 309 or something like that, for half of what this buyer is hoping for..

Not sure about the other code - depends if you are diesel or petrol.

Re: Roof Console

Hi Zubby. Just to say that only sunroof equipped cars have that centre light set up ( I don't mean the switch part, the whole thing is smaller... ) so limited parts available I should imagine. I'll check my shed as my old donor car had a sunroof - I may still have that in a box. As for the fault cod...

Both my last 406s were defapped, no ill affects at all and flew through the MOT emissions....
It's a grey area as far as being 100% legal or environmentally friendly, however it is very pocket friendly and performance friendly - it's your call.

Re: 406 estate door lock jamming

Hi, and welcome from me too. I agree with Doggy on the driver's door lock being at fault - can you remove the connector and clean the contacts with contact cleaner and a toothbrush..? I will add that the window weather strip was changed how it's held in place at some point - some are clipped in but ...

Re: Pp2000 additive reset

Hi Steve, glad you got Paul's old PP2000 - its well worth the money. I'm sorry I can't be too specific on the additive reset, its not something I had to do on my old 406 ( de-fapped ) but I think it was in the Maintenance section of the first menu, as I had to sort a 307's FAP with a forced regen......

Re: New owner

The outside temp sensor is an easy fix - it's the little black lump on the underside of the n passenger mirror. Replacements can be got from eBay, scrapyards etc and it's a case of removing the coloured part off the back of the mirror (carefully) and then popping the glass out by pulling the big spr...

Re: New owner

Hi, welcome to the club :cheesy: The 406 is a much underrated car - it's frugal, reliable, comfortable, spacious and loads of spares about. Until you own one then generally it's just considered to be a big unreliable French car...!! Bumpers are easily swapped, as are the wings and bonnet etc.. To se...

Re: Mayonnaise on dipstick

Could simply be condensation, which does happen on lots of short journeys - mayonnaise isn't always a head gasket diagnosis.
You can have a 'sniff test' done on the car - it's simply a reading done from the expansion tank.
