Re: 406 LX 2.0 HDI

Hi, and a belated welcome from me. Your motor looks alright to me, and as said the 406 is a lot of car for the money. That throttle clip is a right pain - it's always the first thing I check when doing a diagnostic on a 406 - I used to carry a spare one slid under the rubber bonnet stop :cheesy: As ...

Re: Rear abs oroblem

My friend had the same issue - eventually the fault was found in the main footwell connection under the drivers carpet near the pedals... I'm not saying it's definitely your issue, but it's something to bear in mind. If your mechanic can get a replacement sensor, he can simply plug it in to the conn...

Re: Low Brake fluid warning.

I agree - it's a fairly common thing, although I haven't experienced it yet.
As stated, you can remove the switch on the glove box ( it only puts the light on inside anyway ) and swap it with the handbrake switch - if it's fixed then get another switch to put in the glove box :cheesy:

That does look rather lovely inside - although I would advise you to use the shower once you are stationary...

This was on Farcebook a while ago and there was a fair bit of interest - however I believe there were a few issues..
3k is a lot of money for the least popular Solstice Gold, I feel it's over priced.

Re: N75 valve on 2.2 DW12 2.2 HDi engine

Hi. The LQ is attached to the bottom of the airbox - the CH is bolted the engine just to the left of the airbox (unless you have a Coupé then it's under the airbox on a separate bracket) The CH is the solenoid that opens and closes the swirl flap, however the 2 bigger spouts are prone to breaking of...

Re: N75 valve on 2.2 DW12 2.2 HDi engine

Ah, I think this on is a similar number, 1628 CH, but I'll check online later. I'm not sure what this electrovalve controls, if it's the one with the blue plug, air dosers possibly, as both my 2.2hdi estates has a simplified vacuum system - only the turbo solenoid was used, the swirl flap ( which is...

I'm sure automatic headlights are mandatory very soon..... Just don't say anything about front fog lights... Talking of safe - has anyone spotted the advert for the new Bini with a huge sat nav screen in it? It shows the driver* using it whilst driving* down the road - eyes focused on the sc...

+2
And how about car designers* change their minds about putting the world's smallest orange bulb right next to the stupidly bright and pointless DRLs so it becomes a completely pointless indicator...

Is it just me, or does that silly scrolling Aldi indicator turn anyone elses stomach...?

Re: My new 406 project #2

Yes, I'm a jammy get for sure :cheesy: . I had previously sold the estates MFD on fleabay for pretty much the same as what I paid for the car :supafrisk: and after the estate became more of a water feature than a 406 ( still worked perfectly though ) I decided to sell it on. Someone on Facebook boug...

Re: N75 valve on 2.2 DW12 2.2 HDi engine

I think the ECU uses rapid open and closing to determine how 'open or closed' the valve is..?
I'm probably wrong

Re: N75 valve on 2.2 DW12 2.2 HDi engine

Hi.
The 3 solenoids on the bulkhead are all the same part number - 1628 HC - but the ECU uses them in different ways.

My T4 has an N75 valve, but it's boost controlled, not vacuum :cheesy:

Re: Motorised boot

It's possible to use a solenoid to 'pop' the boot latch on a 406, as some of the Coupé owners have removed their boot lock and fitted one. However, the Coupé and the 607 have relatively small boot lids, and a different hinge set up - the 406 estate has a large heavy tailgate and would need a conside...

Re: Photography

I tried to get into photography when I was younger - I had an old Practika SLR with about 3 different lenses and about 20 drop in filters. I wasn't bad, but this is pre digital (say 1992?) and sadly I had all my stuff stolen out of my Fiesta Supersport when parked in Tesco.... :frown: However, my go...
