Re: squeaky creaky rear suspension

Assuming it has the same rear suspension as the estate, the top tie rods can make strange noises although they usually rattle.

Re: Air Con

I have a scrap '51 reg car which should have one but I live in Dorset. I would offer to take it off for you but at 79 I don't bend as easily as I used to.

Re: Lumpy Idle

Its very unusual for these to have injector problems but it could be that there something in the fuel system that is causing them to stick. Have a look in your fuel filter and check it for brass filings, on the early engines the in tank pump used to fail and deposit bits of metal into the system, th...

Re: rear suspension

Could well be the tie rods that locate the top of the suspension, I have had to replace mine twice. They are not to difficult to change but if you don't set them up correctly it will upset the rear tracking. If you want to do the job yourself let me know and I will give you a few pointers.

Re: Coolant overheating

Not wishing to be pessimistic but the low water level could have caused the head gasket to fail unless you have always kept it topped right up, this will cause the system to pressurise and blow the coolant out of the filler/overflow pipe. If its been running for any length of time without antifreeze...

Re: Remote locking ceased

Tried that thanks, no success. I think I will leave well alone, the remote doesn't work on my other one either and other than in a dark car park I can usually find the keyhole. I recently bought a 206 SW for my wife, the remote didn't work on that either, the key fob had fallen to bits and was filth...

Re: Where's my undertray gone!

Iv'e still got both of mine surprisingly, I also bought a set of proper fittings and promptly realised why most cars haven't got them. I have fitted mine with large self tapping screws and that seems to be effective. also have a spare one by the way.

Remote locking ceased

My 01 406 GXL estate has suddenly lost the remote locking, it was fine until I left it parked up for about a month. I have fitted a new battery to the fob and tried the various reset suggestions but no go. I have a PP2000 in fact I have two but can't get either of them to connect to the car. Any sug...

Re: Mondeo 2.0/2,2 tdci

I did at one time consider the Jaguar version, I liked the interior but the engines, although PSA based don't seem to be as reliable as the Peugeot ones. I have never had an injector fail on a 406 2.0. Hdi but they seem to be a common problem of the Fords, they also need programming in if one is cha...

Re: Wheel Bearing roulette - Volvo woes

They can go on for years - or until you cant stand the noise anymore. The noise is due to failure of the case hardening on the inner and outer rings, this causes pitting so the balls fall into the holes ever so slightly. I had a CX many years ago which had a noisy bearing for many many miles, when I...

Re: Crankshaft pulley on 110 hdi.

I'm pretty certain its a standard thread but probably loctited. I doubt a standard impact wrench would move it, I know mine wouldn't. If you look back through the posts you will find the easiest way to remove it.

You don't happen to know who manufactured the shoes were do you? That seems to be the answer.
