Re: 2.0. v 2.2 Hdi engines.

I think driving style is the primary factor but I always drive like a granddad, although I usually know where I'm going, my driving style hasn't changed for many years, about 60 mph and rarely above 2000 rpm and my brakes seem to last for ever, I only use them as a last resort. Prior to havin...

Re: Hello from Spain.

Hi Ginger

Welcome to the forum. I always buy estates but my son has 2.2 diesel Coupe and its an amazing car, nice to drive, fast, and will do over 60 mpg or whatever that is in litres/km. I'm very impressed with it.

Re: 2.0. v 2.2 Hdi engines.

That's better than my C5 but not as good as my first 2.0. 406.

Re: Front door closing sound

Try spraying the door seals with silicone lubricant, the seals themselves can cause noise if parts are sticking together.

Re: 2.0. v 2.2 Hdi engines.

Thanks for that. I collected my sons car from Telford and driving back here it averaged well over 60 mpg and went well, this was about what I was getting from my first 406 2.0. I'm impressed. I had a look on line for a 2.2 406 but there don't seem to be any, and if there were I would probably get on...

2.0. v 2.2 Hdi engines.

I went to Bristol in my sons 2.2 Hdi coupe yesterday, he was driving and drives a lot faster than I do in my 2.0. estate and yet when we reached the M5 his fuel consumption was showing over 60 mpg, once he got on the motorway and put his foot down it dropped to the mid to low 50s but that was at 70 ...

Re: HOW MANY MILES HAS YOUR PUG COVERED?

My GLX Hdi estate has now done 206k, fitted a new cam belt last year at 180 something K. Never had a serious problem in the three years I have had it. Not bad for a car that I bought for 400 pounds for (sorry pounds sign wont work).

Re: squeaky creaky rear suspension

Assuming it has the same rear suspension as the estate, the top tie rods can make strange noises although they usually rattle.

I have a scrap '51 reg car which should have one but I live in Dorset. I would offer to take it off for you but at 79 I don't bend as easily as I used to.

Re: Lumpy Idle

Its very unusual for these to have injector problems but it could be that there something in the fuel system that is causing them to stick. Have a look in your fuel filter and check it for brass filings, on the early engines the in tank pump used to fail and deposit bits of metal into the system, th...
