Re: MOT YET AGAIN

I had two 2.0. Hdi's that colour only I recently sold one of them, they were on 51 reg though, that really is a late one. I put the details of a 2.2 Hdi on the other day, looks a nice car, I was thinking of buying it but logic got the better of me, the chap selling sounded very reasonable. It needed...

Re: Gearbox/diff output bearing play - howto fix?

Make sure the shaft is pushed right in, I believe they have snap rings to locate them.

Re: 406 2.0 hdi Cambelt change mileage?

I recently bought a 2.0. Hdi 206 estate for my wife, there is no history and the aux belt looks very worn so I am replacing it but the cambelt looks as good and tight as the one on my 406 which I changed last year so I shan't bother with that one at the moment. As was mentioned, spontaneous cambelt ...

Re: 14 Volts with engine running

That's the way to do it, or the scrap yard. 14.4 volts is about the norm, if you have bulbs going at that voltage they are either of poor quality or subject to vibration.

Re: sill rubber door seals?

If they are still in one piece you can stick them on with spray on contact adhesive, you need to thoroughly clean the metal surface first, I use meths, not me personally you understand . :?

Re: Tyre Pressure Gauges

I had the garage type PCL for some years but eventually water got into it and I couldn't read the scale. I replaced it with a cheapie from ebay which has lasted very well but the tyre connector has never been much good, you need several goes to get it to seal and the PSI reading which is on the inne...

Re: 406 1.8i will not start after overheating

Hi and welcome to the forum. Assuming that you have checked the battery and connections I suspect that there is a major high current fuse that has failed somewhere, someone else may be able to tell you where it is. Does the starter turn, if not try connecting 12v from the battery to the thin lead on...

Re: Recommend good key fob replacement

The buttons on the cheap ones do get a little softer with use but I think only an original will be as good as -- an original, if the still make them.

Re: Newbie

Iv'e been running 406 Hdi estates for getting on for 10 years and I think they are the best car Peugeot ever made - with the exception of the handbrake. I haven't had one with a good handbrake yet, I think the linings are the problem, you need really soft ones but I don't know who makes them. The br...

Re: Heater plug relay

It's basically just a high current relay and they are all mostly the same unless it contains any electronics. The usual problem is that the contacts don't make properly, you really need to address them with a fine file or wet & dry paper, sometimes they don't work properly because the heat generated...

Re: power loss

You have about the simplest and easiest to repair common rail engine, try some of the newer ones . These engines are normally very reliable but check that you actually have vacuum at the turbo actuator or at least at the solenoid by pulling the pipe of and seeing if you can feel the vacuum, i...

I could be interested if I could get someone to transport it for a reasonable price. I will make some enquiries, if I can will come and have a look at it.
