Clunk under braking

I have recently noticed a clunk under braking at very low speed, if the car is just rolling and brakes are applied there is a clunk from somewhere at the front, I have recently replaced the drop links so don't think they are at fault, also there is an occasional clunk through the steering when going...

Re: looking for another 406

Thank you all for your helpful replies it seems I would not be too disappointed should I find a good 2.2 exec, I have a little concern regarding the Eolys fluid I wasn't aware that this additive is a requirement. I suppose I dont really need another car as I dont really have any intention of retirin...

looking for another 406

I Love my 406 estate its the 2.0 HDI 110 hp model, I quite fancy the 2.2 HDI 136HP there are a few of the executive versions around for sale.
Any ideas on what would be a reasonable price 2003 /2004 year say 120,000 to 140,000 miles decent condition with MOT?

Are there ant pitfalls with the 2.2?

noisy brakes

I have replaced the front discs and pads on my 2003 HDI estate, since fitting the new parts i am getting an intermittent grinding noise which sounds like there is a rough patch on the disc or a crack but both discs are in good condition. It doesnt happen all the time but when it does the the sound i...

Re: clunk at front wheel??

Hi, a friend with a 406 coupe had exactly the same fault, initially we thought it was the brakes but turned out to be a worn bush on the suspension - I think it was the wishbone but I can't be sure. I'll check when I'm in front of my PC at home.... Hi thanks for the replies look forward to hearing ...

clunk at front wheel??

I have a 2003 406 estate diesel there is a clunk which appears to be from the front driver side when driving off from stationary and when braking at low speed e.g. queuing in traffic it is one single clunk and I cant hear it when driving. I recently checked the drop links and they had play so I chan...

Re: Door Key and locking system

Rwb you are correct, ginger magic yes I can do that but my concern is if I loose the blip key and the car is locked I will be able to open and drive the car but the alarm will be going off as the non blip key doesn't cancel the alarm, at least if I loose the non blip key I won't have that problem.
