Re: 2 different cars, 2 oil changes, both came up short

Just looked up the 3.0tdi, 8.2l,,, better start saving.
I'm guessing that's just so Audi can achieve 2yr/20K service interval, at the expense of engine life of course.

I don't fill the TUD5 more than 1/2 on the stick.
Leaks if it's full.

Update, car sold off cheap.
End of an era but it had some big jobs looming anyway.

Re: Glow plug anti-seize?

That looks just the job, too late though I'll have to make do with my not very Nickely Nickel paste.
It is noticeably heavier than normal grease. If that's any gauge of quality.

I also have yet to see an equivalent petrol engine yet anywhere near the fuel economy of it's diesel counterpart. I don't disagree but, Bear in mind that Diesel fuel has a higher energy density per volume than petrol. 11% according to Wikipedia. So when comparing Mpg figures knock 11% off the Diese...

Re: Sump 'crush' washers - a lesson learned

I have a stock of copper ones in both sizes, bought them from ebay for not much money some years ago but have used very few, if you tighten them sensibly you can use them several times. Don't know about torque, I just tighten them until they feel about right. Peter Mee too I changed a leaking coppe...

Re: Glow plug anti-seize?

500g tin of nickel paste arrived today.
9 quid off Ebay cheap enough for a lifetime supply.
Cheaper than a snapped glow plug that's for sure.

Having read all the internet wisdom(scoff) on glow plug anti-seize I've bought a tin of nickel anti-seize paste.

Re: Glow plug anti-seize?

Perhaps it's just V6 snobbery.

Recommended glow plug anti-seize Beru GKF01 (recommended by Beru that is)
Obviously made from the rarest alloy of unobtanium:

Re: Glow plug anti-seize?

They seem to talk about re-mapping in hushed tones. Gentlemen don't re-map their vehicles, they buy the right one in the 1st place. Re. the plugs, they are not stuck(he says) I just want to know what I should put the new ones in with? Copper grease, unobtanium grease, or as God intended? 2 have fail...

Glow plug anti-seize?

Recommendations please. I did the 106 TUD5 a few years back and greased the threads with common all garden muck, then last year we went to change them again and they fought all the way out, I was amazed that none snapped. Don't particularly want to feck up the 3.0Tdi on 2nd week of ownership. I woul...

Ford switched from chain to wetbelt in oil on the 1.8 Lynx engine.
Damned things have been blowing up ever since. (according to internet mythology anyway)
