Re: Car for my Daughter to learn in?

I did explore the classic insurance loophole for my lads.
The policies I found were limited mileage and required another car to already be insured.
ie. 2nd car policy.
Plus a couple of the well known classic insurers that I actually called won't insure youngsters (U25 typically)

Re: XUD/TUD coasting/fuel arguement

Coasting out of gear puts you at risk of not being in control should you suddenly need to take up the drive again and also coasting pretty much turns your car into a loose trolley on 4 wheels, the engine braking affect on the driven wheels plays an important roll in a cars stability, try dipping th...

XUD/TUD coasting/fuel arguement

Please settle a debate indoors re. No.2 sons coasting habit in TUD5 106 Having trawled the interweb for wisdom I am back here. It is stunning what some individuals out there believe. I have established what I kind of already knew in that any electronic injection system will cut fuel supply in over-r...

Re: Screenwash pump removal

New pump fixed it.
Chiselled the old pump open and they are very simple, just a hard plastic impeller and a rubber diaphragm which acts as a flip-flop non return valve.
The diaphragm was looking a bit wrinkled and was very soft.
Will investigate the vodka story further.

Re: Screenwash pump removal

I'm making the assumption that it's not electrical as it does operate front & rear and does different things, so it must be spinning in both directions? New pump should tell me, it was cheap enough. I seem to remember the boy muttering something about cheap vodka for screenwash, I thought he was jok...

Re: Screenwash pump removal

Pump removed, cleaned, gently airlined, refitted.
Exactly the same. It was all fairly clean on the inside anyway.

Screenwash pump removal

It's bloody 'orrible outside and I don't want to snap stuff in haste.
Got the arch liner peeled back to expose the pump but it's covered in crap and hard to tell how it goes.
Does it just pull straight out of the rubber?

Re: Screen washers

OK Ta,
I'll try pulling the pipes off the front jets and purging 1st.
Or even blowing back with an airline.

Screen washers

I have reduced pressure on the fronts and when I squirt the rear it comes out the front as well.
Is this likely to be electrical or plumbing?
Had a quick look but it's all buried under the tank and everything is wet anyway.

Cheers

Re: Engine oil

Blimey that is reasonably priced.
I'm a bit sceptical on this semi vs fully synth thing.
Is fully synth really best for boring road Diesels or is it fashion driven?

The usual rule applies: anything aftermarket is immediately suspect.
I fitted 2 Chinese Ebay USB sockets in the Connect.
One was continually warm and drawing double the other so I replaced it but they will do the battery if left too long.
