Re: Another MOT shake up

What's more annoying is a friends 2009 1.8 tdci dpf equipped focus has a plate figure of 1.75 No DPF on a 1.8TDCi. They're usually quite smokey too. Is that why? No DPF on Tddi, Can't speak for the Focus but DPF definitely went on 1.8Tdci Connects, I know, I had to find one without. I'll have a loo...

My passat has said plate figure of 0.60
Is that on the VIN plate?
The A4 has a small box on the bottom RH corner of the VIN that just says 1.30

Re: Another MOT shake up

Talking about this with non-car folk at the weekend and someone made the comment that the 2018 Regs will require emissions of any Diesel to be within limits for that vehicle when new. I am taking that with a large pinch, but if true it would endanger our remapped Hdi90 which does smoke. I have just ...

crash!!!

Looked after the old girl meticulously for years and Pigletson has crunched the rear N/S corner around the light hole.
It'll need a part panel welding in.

I don't suppose anyone has a rear bumper kicking around, EGE - CHINA BLUE PAINT

Re: Another MOT shake up

but I found the draft regs: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/696292/mot-inspection-manual-for-classes-3-4-5-and-7-from-20-may-2018-draft.pdf Most of it's sensible, albeit poorly defined. If it's in there it's hidden away in hours of rea...

Re: Another MOT shake up

Suddenly driving back home from the local test centre to organise or perform a fix becomes a very costly exercise. I'm going to have to ditch my usual test-only place now for someone who has a financial interest in seeing cars fail Not with you, nothing has really changed here. I don't what constit...

Re: Another MOT shake up

In the bad old days wasn't there a red failure slip where you couldn't drive it away?

03 estate broken roof rail

Front O/S rail bracket at sickly angle.
Is that a head lining out job?

I don't suppose anyone has one?

Another MOT shake up

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/mot-changes-20-may-2018 May 20th new rules apply The .gov link states that you cannot drive away with a dangerous fail, so this then presumeable invalidates any current MOT left. But for a major fail it says fix immediately, so does that mean the old MOT still cove...
