Re: Immobiliser bypass help

I remember from the old days when we used to get these in for service and the customer hadn't left their keypad number....1111 always got them running, it's a default service pin.

Re: sluggish starting

To eliminate a dropped valve or major engine problem such as seizure, turn the engine by hand using a spanner or socket and bar (ratchet) on the crank pulley....it will be easier with the glow plugs removed. If the engine turns normally then look elsewhere. First thing I would check after making sur...

Re: Crank pulley bolt problem

I don't know if you have already sorted this problem, I've been away so didn't see the post. My solution to this problem is this... If you have got the bolt moving carry on with the WD40 into the threads and moving the bolt in and out gradually. I usually use the starter motor trick but that might n...

Re: Gearbox/diff output bearing play - howto fix?

Thought I'd update this thread to conclude it: the new driveshaft seal plus about 2L of new Total 75w80 oil in the transmission and all is now well again with the gearbox. So glad I tried that before taking out the gearbox! That plus the new wheel bearings have resulted in the funny droning noises ...

Re: Photography

Some lovely photos there Mr and Mrs Highlander :) I love the Salzburg photos as I visited there many times. I have some rather expensive camera gear...I just got a new camera and lens, Canon 5D MkIV and a Tamron 24-70 f2.8 G2. I also have the Canon 100-400L MkII and the Canon 100mmL IS macro lens. I...

Re: The 70mm lower engine mount bush + gloplugs

Remove the driveshaft and the mounting block then get someone to press a new bush in...it's soooo much easier!

I've done dozens of these, believe me, I know!!

Re: Gearbox/diff output bearing play - howto fix?

Peugeot Citroen left hand side driveshafts are only a push fit...you should always take care when lowering a ball joint or moving the hub on the left side as the driveshaft can just drop out from the gearbox leaving a nasty oily mess from the loss of gearbox oil. I can't remember which side has the ...

Re: Gearbox/diff output bearing play - howto fix?

You still have a whine after replacing the wheel bearings? A proper diagnosis would have helped. Is the leak not related to a bad oil seal? Most leaks from the inner driveshaft are related to the oil seal leaking (use genuine seals as the non genuine ones don't fit very well!) Regarding the diff...i...

Re: 508

The 508 we have is an "Active" model which is quite a high spec with all the bits you need, except leather seats, although steering wheel is leather. It has 163 bhp with 6 speed gearbox and has lots of power and great fuel consumption. It handles great and is totally reliable...touching wood, I have...

Re: Starclip washer

Starclip washers can fit many different sizes, are you sure you are looking for a starclip washer...a dome shaped washer with prongs that slip over a shaft to lock an item onto the shaft?

Re: Starclip washer

Loads of starclip washers online!

Any car accessory shop will usually have a box of assorted clips...failing that nip into a local garage and ask them if they have one.

Yes, take off the top connector and make sure it's clean.

Good luck with it :)
