Re: 2.0. v 2.2 Hdi engines.

Just rocked up in Carlisle, en route to Glasgow for a mate's retirement do tomorrow nite.
So far 240 miles including half an hour of stop/start stuff around the A1/M18&M62 junctions, average 55 mph, 52.4 mpg.
Not too shabby, methinks. 8)

Re: and today i have mostly been...

Guess it depends on which bit of the UK you're familiar with, loads of abandoned dwellings in Cumbria and the less populated bits of Scotland, (no doubt other places too). Rural France is much the same, the locals have no desire to own an old house in the country, they see it as risking high mainten...

Re: 2.0. v 2.2 Hdi engines.

My driving is mostly main road / m-way which clearly helps, but..... My first 2.2 HDi recorded 42/43 mpg and occasionally 45/6 in favourable conditions. I did 80k+ miles in it, mostly after installing the '180' map. Swapped to the current car in 2012, it was roughly 1 mpg better from day 1. Losing t...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

No problem here.
Since Croatia became the 28th member state of the EU in 2013, all H+S legislation is exactly the same as here.
However, in all member states apart from the UK, none of the above is ever applied therefore crack on.

Re: advice on caliper overhaul kits needed

Bad luck. :(
It does happen occasionally. The quick/dirty fix is a 2nd hand strut from a scrappy.

Suggest you put the spare on that corner just to rule out a tyre issue, (I've been caught out before).

Re: Wheel Bearing roulette - Volvo woes

I think you've got to let it get to that state to positively identify which side is the culprit.
Bet you a Poundworld gift token that when you get the old bearing off it seems OK, but the problem will be solved.

Re: My error codes

You really need PP2k to be sure, but 99% chance all bar the glowplug one will be additive related.
Trouble with generic codes is they're just that.

It's fairly common for the additive tank wiring to get ripped off, (sometimes the tank as well). MIght be worth a look.

Re: Air Con

Thanks guys for the offers, I've bitten bullet and ordered one out of Peugeot. Was ONLY £68+ vat... Chances are everyone's will be in a similar state seized in the condeser as mine... :-) First time I changed a condenser both pipes came out with little difficulty. Next attempt snapped off. Tried re...
