Re: Non-406 1.6 TU series engine problem

Thank you for the suggestions people. 8) I reckon I'll go with jasper5's approach as it has a good chance or revealing the cause, (and I don't seem to have too much success with endoscopes). Hopefully have a look over the weekend. A quick scan of fleabay revealed a couple of potential replacement en...

Non-406 1.6 TU series engine problem

My daughter's 307 has apparently dropped a valve - happened on trying to start, engine turns freely in either direction for about half a turn, but won't go all the way round. Timing belt seems intact. Managed to recover it last weekend, but haven't attacked it yet. (Another family member has loaned ...

Pretty sure that's all the garages do nowadays.
I recently tried to check the oil level of our posh new Grundfos/John Deere diesel fire pump....
Pulled on what i assumed was the dipstick only to discover it was a hand pump gadget for draining the sump.

Is it really an oil change if you don't spill some though?
Yes, I've managed it without a drop spilled at least twice in 46 years.

Have resolved to secure one of those suction devices.

Re: 1.6HDi coming our way - Please Help!

Well.....
I set about my 1500 miles overdue oil change in Sunday morning's crisp winter sunshine, (anybody else enjoy* the sudden hail storm)?
Oil & filter got changed,
Driveway got large waste oil stain,
Undertray's still resting under the hedge.

Result nonetheless, one less thing to worry about. :)

Dogmobile 2 is scheduled for it's annual handbrake adjustment* at the end of March, suspect it'll want a set of rear drop links by then too.

Good to hear you've got to the bottom of it. 8)

Pressure washer works for a while, SDS plus chisel is more effective.

Re: 406 estate, heater blower just stopped this morning.

Think Peter's is a fairly late model 110 HDi? Usual fault is the blower speed controller giving you permanent full speed, changed mine last year..... Fuses appear to be MF4 in the engine fusebox, then fuse 'F' on the side of the BSI, (assuming it's a full-mux D9). My bro's old 1.9 D8 had a burnt up...

Re: 406 2.2 HDI - loss of power

Hi and welcome aboard. 8) In my experience you won't get a 2.2 to run anything like normal without a good MAF, (unlike a 110 which generally will run more or less OK). 300 bar at idle is normal, max pressure is 1350 bar but 920 might well be consistent with one of the limp modes, (where injection qu...

Re: XUD/TUD coasting/fuel arguement

But what of mechanical injection? Using fuel on over-run or not using fuel?? Not sure. I think no fuel on overrun. Personally I think coasting is a disgusting filthy habit right up there with using front fogs as DRL's +1 coasting is potentially dangerous using front fogs confirms you're an idiot

Re: Odd idle speed behaviour

Normal idling speed is about 820 RPM on the tacho, or 790-odd via PP2k, (with the aircon turned off).

Maybe there's something odd with the ecu map - (I gather you may not know the origin of the one it's using)?
I can compare it with the 'normal' one if you want.
