Re: and today i have mostly been...

Not a cat person but watching this I kinda get it. :) Has been a bit quiet on the forum of late. Personally, I'm 4 weeks into retirement, which translates into grafting 2-3 days a week and decorating / diy for the remainder. Current projects: 5 years+ worth of decorating / diy backlog....

Re: Peugeot Festival 2019

We're thinking about the customary family outing this year.
Likely using my bro's 407 since Vaughan, '(Mr BBQ)' & I both pilot Cisterns these days

Re: 1.6HDi DV6 Engine - DPF questions

Mileage is anyone's guess, depends on how it's used. Chances are you'll get some warning in the form of error messages and/or warning light.
As the dpf blocks it will get harder and harder to start.

Re: 1.6HDi DV6 Engine - DPF questions

In the 'old days' before dpf removal became possible the coupe boys, (who had the majority of 2.2 HDi's with dpf), removed them / pressure washed the crap out & refitted. No gaskets or anything needed so long as the connectors could be reused. No legal or ethical reason why a helpful exhaust special...

Re: 406 scanning codes

My last petrol car - a 3.0 Omega - had an electric pump to force air into the exhaust. Purpose was to help combustion of unburned fuel to get the catalytic converters up to working temperature quicker. Only operated when the engine was cold.
I suspect there may be a similar system on your car

Re: PP2000 midlands / northants / MK ?

I still have the 'gear' and could have a butcher's for you.
IIRC it needs to be enabled in the BSI in two places and the two brake pedal switches have to operate in a specific order as you press and release the pedal.
Unfortunately I no longer have a working 406 to compare with. :(

Re: Letter from America

My employer adds the NI saving to my gross pay. :) And chips in with up to 10% of my earnings provided I contribute 6% or more. :cheesy: The other thing to consider as rwb pointed out is: 1. Putting £1 in only 'costs' 67.2p in take-home pay. 2. Even if you pay tax on the money you subsequently take ...

Re: Letter from America

I was fortunate enough to be in several final salary pension schemes over the years and while they all shut down yonks ago, I managed to amass enough to give me a similar standard of living in retirement once I get my state pension as well, (but that's 2 years away). Jacking in my main job after cut...

Re: Life span of catalytic converter?

By the way, I tweaked the "drivers wish map" in the engine ECU a bit so that "full throttle" at idle only gives about 50%, slowly increasing as the rpms rise. It is hardly noticable during driving, but it gives a nice gradual ramp up during the MOT testing :D You should work for VW   Bit ...

Re: Auto to manual

I probably have a selection of 2003-ish 110 HDi manual maps it it's any help. PM me your e-mail address if interested.

It's questionable whether finding a 'good' AL4 box anywhere was ever possible.
