Re: and today i have mostly been...

Brilliant job there Mr E. It's a shame the engine and gearbox combo couldn't breath life into a project car somewhere, more aggro though breaking it for spares etc.. Mileage recorder was on 226775, the engine's done all of them, the 'box about 200k and clutch + dmf about 140k. I reckon they've earne...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

....waving goodbye to Dogmobile2 after seeing it winched onto the back of a transit that looked considerably less roadworthy than the 406. Don't know if everyone's aware, but my daughter found a site called Scrapcomparison.co.uk , which asked a few questions and offered £147.80, which dropped by ten...

Re: Air Doser

I would try disabling the egr and if it's effective blank it off.
In my experience this gives you much improved throttle response and low speed pull, particularly after a period on the overrun.

Re: Air Doser

The 2.2 is different. You can eliminate the air doser as the cause by disconnecting and plugging the vacuum pipe from the solenoid valve to the air doser vacuum capsule. The flap return spring will force the air doser into the open, intercooler to manifold position. (If you want to verify the positi...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

That's some fancy solar charger if you can log into it and get a live report :o It's got a display like this: http://www.southdownsmotorcaravans.co.uk/galleries/2007concorde/charismabrochure/bigimages/picture24.jpg When you press the battery symbol, it displays the voltages for the starting battery...

Turn the radio up?

You probably know this already, but received wisdom* recommends filling the tank right up to minimise the number of fill-ups and thus injections of Eolys. (You know, the additive that helps burn off the soot but then blocks your dpf with its own residue).

Staircase looks epic, well done. 8)
Handrail could be fun*

Maybe some PVC trunking for the cables?

Re: and today i have mostly been...

After a fruitless search of the many side lockers, I located the starting battery quite logically positioned under the bonnet, behind the n/s headlights. Positive terminal accessible - just, negative terminal no hope whatsoever. No matter it has a beefy chassis, bolted together with nice big shiny p...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

Looks good. 8) Understand your frustration - designing & building that from scratch must be like knitting fog, but with more resistive materials. The pre-Brexit logistics panic saw me spending Thursday & Friday night shunting trailers around to no apparent purpose, so I'm finally off for my attempt ...

Re: Have I broken our 1.6HDi turbo charger?

Come to think of it, my first 406 did too - it had a completely empty cat/dpf housing and the flexi downpipe replaced with a thinner aftermarket equivalent. Therefore your noise could also be caused by changes in the exhaust.

Might it have just succeeded in completing a much needed regen?

Re: and today i have mostly been...

Indeed - a DW10B. Unfortunately not another mighty DW12, but probably the next best thing. In other news, my camper has a flat battery, (or 3). The storage site rang and asked for permission to move it two spaces over, then confirmed it's flat. (I suspected as much when the tracker company reported ...

Re: Have I broken our 1.6HDi turbo charger?

Air leak most likely.
Have a good look at all the joints and any sensor connections all the way from the air filter to the turbo & turbo to inlet manifold, including any egr plumbing.

Re: and today i have mostly been...

It does have a DPF and won't pass the MOT without unfortunately. Had it's dpf fluid topped up a year or so back so should be OK for a fair while. I probably do enough main road/motorway miles to keep it that way. (It is the same engine as the 407). It's possible to get a 'DPF Safe' remap to take it ...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

I like the sound of Dogmobile 3 TM "place yer bets".......... :supafrisk: Sadly I have been unable to find a decent, or even half-way decent 406. Even my bro has exhausted that avenue and resorted to a 407SW in 2.2 HDi 'GT' spec, (which is a decent drive BTW). I have searched high & low, looked at ...
