Re: Pointy Indicators on modern cars

French rond points are similar, 'cept about half of them indicate left if they're not taking the next exit...
Come to think of it quite a few don't indicate at all.....
Guess they've seen more of our awful driving.

Re: The Price of Diesel

I got one of those vouchers at the end of October with a till receipt for about £70, not had one since for lots of smaller transactions. I might* have used it to part replenish the camper's tank after our recent expedition to Dorset..... 100 litres @ £1.239 :) 9 litres @ 1.339 :frown: 346 miles / 14...

Now? I can remember some of my friends being taught this nonsense in the 1970's

Re: Fuel (diesel) woes.

Just a word of caution - not 100% certain, but no synchronisation is I think normal if it's not running, (makes sense I think). I suspect sync is what it's looking for while cranking, (which is why they don't fire instantly). Possibly sync will change to YES just as it fires, but you probably couldn...

Re: The Price of Diesel

Prices dropped a bit last week, but the gulf between petrol & diesel has grown.
At our Asda it's 119.7 vs 131.7, 12p a litre or 54p a gallon.

Re: Pointy Indicators on modern cars

Worse than that, it's downright dangerous. It's usually omly the DRLs that get dimmed when the indicator's flashing. The headlights don't. So if the indicator is difficult to see due to a nearby DRL in daylight, what form of ESP do we need to see the indicator in the dark next to a headlight? And an...

I think the sticker was only required from 2008 model year,
If it passed last year and the tester can navigate the smog you'll be fine.

Impressive doors, I approves.
Good to hear the medical stuff went not too badly.
Sounds like a result on the back brakes too.

Get yourself a lottery ticket?

Re: Fuel (diesel) woes.

Agreed. The HP pump will deliver 250-300 bar while cranking or idling & 1350 bar at full chat, so needs to be treated with caution.
Pressure dissipates as soon as the engine stops so less of an issue if it's not actually running.

Re: Fuel (diesel) woes.

Buzzing solenoids are not unusual. To be certain the lift pump is OK observe the fuel filter housing as the ignition is switched on - if all is well the housing will physically swell a tiny bit - the lift pump delivers about 4-5 bar. Assuming that's OK, check the fuel pressure regulator - it apparen...

Re: N75 valve on 2.2 DW12 2.2 HDi engine

The CH is the one that controls the swirl, it can easily be bypassed but it means the little ball and arm on the engine is floppy, so needs holding upright with an elastic band or something. Agreed, but if you remove/plug the vacuum pipe for the swirl flap actuator and just leave it in place, the i...
