Re: 14 Volts with engine running

Re: Heater plug relay

No problem, it's too hot to do much here.

I can't even remember what an XUD relay looks like, maybe it's obvious but I'd hope you were certain which was which. Unfused battery voltage here!

Re: Heater plug solenoid

HDi relay - possibly. The Xud's is just a relay, while the HDi solenoids are controlled by the engine ecu (semi-mux) or BSI (full-mux), 2 of the feeds are just + & - but the other 2 - worth some experimentation? As for cleaning it, it's kind of working just now so it is possible to make it worse. Up...

Re: Wanted: Speedo Interface Box 1929SJ

That's odd, when the one failed on my 1998 D8 I tried to take it apart for autopsy but when I'd finally managed to saw the box open I found the circuitry encased in a block of resin - "Haha, you are, ow you say? Screwed."

Re: and today i have mostly been...

Err, everything. Cutting, grinding, sanding... I probably use it less than the compressor but more than any of the drills. I have a similar saw, I last used it trimming the rough ends of the shed door. stepladder as a saw horse is probably ok, so long as it's stable, as would anything that holds it ...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

Fair enough :cheesy: I was just hoping this wouldn't look like the "Steve & Welly Show" and put off anyone else.

Just been checking spares for that Makita, nothing like as expensive as that Bosch I blew up, hmm...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

DeWalt used to be excellent but, as you say, they're now a subsidiary of Blot & Dicker (or more accurately Stanley Black & Decker Inc., how the mighty have fallen :( ( and I read the quality is dropping to B&D standards. Just checking if they sell them here, not in Bauhaus (so no form of discount), ...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

I wouldn't ride uninsured, obv. I have more to loose here but I presume they do spot checks in the UK, pulled in because they're bored and maybe just you can be a customer. And what if someone else does something stupid, or someone walks out in front of you? You'll be in a world of hurt even if it w...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

Ah, thanks for the head's up - I knew it was true good to be true :( A brief exploration yesterday showed that nobody wants to do cheapy insurance that includes 365 days of riding out of the country, so it'd be pointless paying a premium for anything that I can actually use. When I was first here I ...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

I've been on the blower to Swansea. There doesn't seem to be a log book with the paperwork, just the new keeper supplement and it's blank. 13 years ago my dad moved house and was supposed to send it off for a change of address but I've not got a clue what happened next. It's also meant to have ended...

Re: Brake fluid loss

Never having played with a clutch on these I don't know but Haynes makes it look easy to remove the slave cylinder - remove air filter and all that, unclip the pipes, remove clip (if fitted), push slave cylinder in and turn it 90 degrees anticlockwise, remove. None of your fancy concentric slave cyli...

Most of it's zinc but I think the wheels are chrome. When it was made chrome plating wasn't available so it was all zinc, IIRC the wheels originally were zinc to the edges with black inside. Spokes are stainless.

It spent about 12 years in my dad's lounge as an item of furniture
