Re: Peugeot 406 2.0 HDI 90HP, cold start problem

I think the guy has been all through the glowplug system already. Although it should be noted that the glowplug light on the dash doesn't represent what the glowplugs are actually doing. Ok for that DAM number i retrieved the following diagram: Electronic Injection 9380.pdf That's a semi-mux (early ...

Re: Peugeot 406 2.0 HDI 90HP, cold start problem

Not to worry, I found some time and there doesn't appear to be anything between the temperature sensor and the ecu. This is trying a few DAMs between 9001 and 9999 (I don't think there were any Siemens before that) so I think it's safe.

Re: Peugeot 406 2.0 HDI 90HP, cold start problem

There's a few of us on here with Sedre (wiring diagram database) but we're going to need to know a bit more about your car. Can you post your car's build code or, even better, your chassis number?

Re: How many cars have you owned?

It seems like hundreds but I suspect it's only something like 20, I think I listed them on here about 10 years back... These days I don't actually own any cars  When I first came here I had to reapply for temporary residence every year and, bizarrely, the cars were linked to it, so I had to r...

Re: Peugeot 406 2.0 HDI 90HP, cold start problem

That is what I meant yes :(

HDi's shouldn't need to run the glowplugs for that long to start, and the white smoke is probably unburnt diesel - did you have any tests done on the injectors? It appears you've changed everything else...

Re: Peugeot 406 2.0 HDI 90HP, cold start problem

Hi Andrei, welcome :cheesy: Your English is fine, much too good to be Google 8) . Is the injection pump siemens or bosch? The Siemens system has no low pressure/lift pump in the fuel tank and what happens with these is if they have a slight leak in the line the fuel can drain and then they are hard ...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

Most of the time I can get my meanings across, although this time one of the coppers had a fair bit of english (proving language doesn't have much to do with intelligence) saving a lot of ag, but I just have to accept I'm crap with languages, something I've inherited from my father. Although sometim...

Re: 1.6HDi coming our way - Please Help!

It appears they changed the design (I wonder why...) as the later one seems to be straight- https://i.imgur.com/yfufpT0.jpg I don't think the RPO decoder I have goes that high... Maybe the later ones are ok? Incidentally, I tried logging in to Service Box for that but it's down, so I tried Citroen S...

Re: 1.6HDi coming our way - Please Help!

I've been wondering about that, the bottom of the dipstick tube is S-shaped - I watched the mechanic here extricating a broken dipstick from one, it was a long while back mind. I seem to remember the tube was quite narrow too. I thought maybe if you were using a sucker on one it would actually use t...

Congratulations! That's some good news right there. Although I do hope she's got a strong stomach  And today I have mostly been.... spitting blood because I got a parking ticket. In the middle of the town here is a car park. None of the bays are actually marked, there aren't any signs or anyt...

Re: Non-406 1.6 TU series engine problem

Get an endoscope/boreascope? Dropped valve, bent valve, valve seat fallen out.... I don't suppose it's going to be good, whatever it is, so you're best bet is to do the bare minimum to diagnose it to make sure you called it and then bin it.

Re: 1.6HDi coming our way - Please Help!

Have resolved to secure one of those suction devices.  I was thinking about one of those a while back, perfect for not having to grovel about on the floor or worrying about stripped threads. But then I read they don't really get to the bottom of things and can leave all the worst slu...
