Re: and today i have mostly been...

I've just been investermagating, it took some finding but that welder will only run the full whack on 3-phase, on 230 volts it'll only do 115 amps, which is hardly any better than what I have already. This house does have a 3-phase feed but no wiring for it. They also do Telwin migs (Italian, sold t...

Re: SEDRE

I forgot about the repair manual  Not that I ever found much that was useful on it. Umm, it's up to you really, you could pay for online access but you'll probably spend your first 24 hours figuring out how to use it. If you can use the wiring diagrams then go for the Sedre download and treat ...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

Another day of slogging away to little obvious progress. I'll also make an angle iron flange for the bottom of the upright and pin it into the floor https://i.imgur.com/lEcx9l5.jpg Needs the pins cutting flush and welding up. Should spread the load a bit too. probably something similar at the top sc...

Re: SEDRE

Well no, but the Sercvice Box backup will go out of date (if it didn't already, mine's 2011 so pretty old) so you won't keep up with any parts changes if stuff gets superseded etc. You won't be able to check current prices. Plus it won't decode your VIN as you won't actually be registered for the da...

400A @ 80V http://static.rcgroups.net/forums/attachments/3/4/0/8/6/7/a5333082-82-drooling-homer-simpson.jpg.png Impressive progress Thanks but it seems painfully slow this end. Still, early days, lots of planning, careful measuring and decision making. Once I get it all worked out I'll make wooden ...

Re: SEDRE

Service Box - spare parts, service schedules, stuff like that. Sedre - wiring diagrams, pinouts, installation diagrams, iffy fuse diagrams etc. (no part numbers). I first downloaded it off of pages of links on a now defunct diagnostics forum, very slowly, it took days. These days it's on most torren...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

Small amounts of progress today. I had to wait until almost 10 for the temperature to go over zero, then at 11:30 I had to abandone ship to cook lunch and take Max shopping (his turn to cook Saturday). Home at 3, bit of work on the mig, then back out shopping again 'cos I forgot the fish for tomorro...

Re: More Gremlins

PSA wiring is colour-blind, it's the numbers that count (so you're f*cked if they're missing  ), they should match (but not always  ).

Re: Type of Power Steering Fluid

Ah well, the memory fades, but I knew it had Dexron something on the lid, not this Total Fluide AK47 or whatever it was the book said. Like a lot of t'wife's English text books, it's talking ballcocks.

Re: More Gremlins

On some cars the wiring is there for options they don't have (electric seat wiring is quite common) so that could be the wires heading of to the engine ecu. 3 wires going in though, not so comfortable with that. Oops, just seen your update. 6394 : Seat memorisation unit diagnostic info Err, ok :shoc...

Re: More Gremlins

Btw if anyone's wondering why there's a 10 way connector with just 2 circuits in it (I did anyway), on a car with a particulate filter it's fully populated.

Although on a later car it's just a 2 way blue.

6349 : ???en_gb.null??? 8604 : anti-theft alarm siren control Err, does it have one of those? Diagram shows a 10-way blue connector but when I follow it to the electrical it's suddenly a 6-way black. Err, with 10 connectors  I guess the label is a cock up. http://www.406oc.co.uk/downloa...

Re: More Gremlins

That's handy, the carpet won't be dry any time soon. Looks like that blue connector is having a bad time of it too, sadly I can't search for it in the diagrams - I need some wire/equipment codes. Following back from the rear left ABS sensor wires brings me to 46HAB/10PR connector 16V NR (16 way blac...

Re: going to have a go at welding the sills !

That is indeed a bit of a result, the rust can't be near enough to anything structural (although I'd have a thought the whole sill is structural... :? )
