Excellent progress on the Barn, looking forward to more.

Re: MOT history gap

I reckon the owner missed the MOT in 2016, forgot about it basically, there's no reminders for MOT's (I think there should be though) so he drove around unaware of the issue. You could easily drive around for a year and not get picked up on an ANPR important enough to get stopped. My daughter did a ...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

Don't show the TV people that outbuilding, they'd want to use in in one of their dramatic* scenes what with it looking emotive and rustic :cheesy: From a business point of view your 'elf n safety' is lacking; you have no fall prevention measures, nothing to prevent falling debris, no segregation bet...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

I've read this in a bit of a rush but it seems caprix has downloaded a calculator in a field and the big news is steve_earwig's new TV acting career - omg seriously well done mate, getting a staring role in a popular TV show, I promise I'll watch every episode for sure. Can I have a signed photo ple...

Re: Caliper painting

rwb - most rear calipers have a piston that needs winding back to carry out changing the pads etc. There's caliper winding kits on Amazon etc, I've got one but yet to use it, it looks like something you'd get into a right pickle with but if you watch youtube guides it's not too difficult, they come ...

Re: Wheel Bearing roulette - Volvo woes

Turns out it was the opposite wheel making the noise :? just needed the offside bearing changed and all is quiet again. £105.00 fitted. The other most bizarre benefit is that for a few months now the car has hesitated when setting off and engaging the electronic clutch but now it's fine. I can only ...

Re: Wheel Bearing roulette - Volvo woes

Well 200 miles later. In the Citroen :o and I can now tell you what a proper wheel bearing failure sounds like  Low speeds is a kinda rough knocking sound turning into a full on howling at 45mph and then a high pitch 'wheeee' above 60. All this accompanied by a heavy resonance felt through th...

Re: Wheel Bearing roulette - Volvo woes

What's worse than having a car with noisy front bearings? That's right, having 2 cars with knackered bearings :( The Citroen is now doing the same, over the last 3 weeks, think I'm being targeted by the bearing fairies :( the Citroen actually has play in the wheel (about 2mm) so that'll need doing f...

Re: Non-406 1.6 TU series engine problem

Good work on the 406, I fear it won't be 'valued' enough to get a decent price selling it as no-one understands what it is?

The Twingo should sell quickly I think, how do you like the high seating position? :o

Re: Mondeo 2.0/2,2 tdci

I remember in 2011-ish I kept seeing new Focus's (Foci?) with only one rear number plate lamp, it was positioned centrally and just about bathed the rear plate in enough light. TBF if that saved Ford £1.00 per car then given the volume it's a worthwhile saving to pay for something else in the pipeli...

Re: Mondeo 2.0/2,2 tdci

I'd never go near an older Ford of any description. They are just not quality built cars, the old nickname..'Dagenham dustbin' sums them up, for me. They don't survive the miles. My rolling project car, MX5 MK1, was succeeded by the MK2, at which point Ford took a heavy shareholding in Mazda, and b...

Apparently the gear selector shizzle is one of the first things to be assembled at the factory so no wonder they're a pain to work on later.

Re: Sump 'crush' washers - a lesson learned

The latest sump washers have a rubber ring inside them for sealing. I always smear a little instant gasket onto the washer, never get leaks. I have seen these, apparently a genuine Renner sump washer does have a rubber seal. Will get one next time. Temporarily and without wanting to murder the thin...
