Re: and today i have mostly been...

That's the way! initially the heat will get soaked away by the cold structure and especially the floor, of course retaining heat can only be supported by the use of insulation and preventing air leakage into the space. [granny suck eggs moment] those flue brackets have got a good grip of the tubing ...

Re: Now look who's got a Volvo...

Yeah I see what you mean, when I go to see our biggest customer (maybe 4 times a year) I park around the corner and walk  it would look like something was going wrong with our business turning up in a 14 year old Volvo (I hate this kind of judgement by the way and don't support it) but I do it ...

Re: Now look who's got a Volvo...

Mine's an SE, think it stands for Suspension Expires  Sam, you said back there that your Co. gives you a car allowance but you must buy a car less than 12 months old and keep it until 5 years max? forgive me if I'm out of touch with these things but that sounds like an interference with your fr...

Re: Now look who's got a Volvo...

I think that's a good choice Sam, can't believe the price, what a bargain! Does anyone else find it very difficult figuring out what the model types actually mean on moderns these days? you could easily end up with an undesirable spec if you didn't do your homework. Whatever happened to L, LX and GL...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

I'm liking the flue brackets!

It might warm up after you've got some heat into the fabric of the building (and the floor slab) you probably only need heat to take the edge off the temperature in there because you'll be working flat out in there chopping, sawing, hammering, welding.....

Re: 1.6HDi coming our way - Please Help!

Can I have a tenner on "they all do that sir"...

I think that is very likely, coupled with "the clutch is now half worn so what do you expect"...

Google is rife with people complaining about citroen 'EGS' gearboxes; juddering and whatnot.

Re: 1.6HDi coming our way - Please Help!

I think the clutch is ok though (63K miles) when this hesitation/stutter happens you can also here the exhaust note change (like a miss-fire) so I'm suspecting it's an electronic fault between the accelerator input and the clutch action. It's going back in next Thursday for me to 'demonstrate' the f...

Re: 1.6HDi coming our way - Please Help!

Hold the press! Back to square one :frown: The gear change has improved with the new software (changes up earlier which is better and smoother down-changes) but the bloody hesitation is still there  Got to call them up and get it back in but I bet they'll say they've done all they can and the ...

Re: 1.6HDi coming our way - Please Help!

Well butter my arse! They fixed it within the diagnostic "window of opportunity" (the £99.00 let's see what the problem is window) Not picked it up yet but the Service Receptionist said that new Software has been downloaded and something was calibrated, as far as they're concerned it is fixe...

Re: New 'stricter' MOTs...

This is exactly what frightens me about buying a modern second hand car, younger folk these days have no idea about cars and don't want to know either, as long as they can Bluetooth stuff in it that's all that matters  Garage next door to me at work have had a few Mini's in with low oil, low e...

Re: 1.6HDi coming our way - Please Help!

Well, we've* finally got fed up with the automatic* gearbox and the hesitation in first gear and took it into Citroen  They're charging £99.00 to diagnose the fault and go from there. Internet says the clutch needs calibrating, as the clutch wears at about 60K miles the clutch/accelerator ECU...

Re: New 'stricter' MOTs...

Still amazes me that people would send a car for an MOT knowing the tyres are on the limit, or there's bulbs out etc.

Re: Pointy Indicators on modern cars

What would happen when your self-driving car is bezzing down a country lane doing 59.999mph and hits black ice on a bend?

I can't see what problems will be solved by SD cars either :?

Replacing a Prius battery pack - YouTube video

This is brilliant, you might have seen ChrisFix's videos before but this one excels, so easy to follow and very interesting:
