Re: Ebay Etc. Just "Run-In" 406s

Not too far from me.

TBF you could probably wang 50K miles on that without too much fuss, cheap motoring for sure. Those early pez 406's were very trouble-free.

Re: Engine oil

Fully Syn is fine if the engine has always ran on it but there's a school of thought that by adding fully syn to an engine used to semi-syn it may start to shift waxy oil deposits around the system.....something best avoided. I think semi-syn is perfect for the HDi as it's a very unstressed unit.

Re: Happy New Year

Your year wins my year by a mega mile!

Holidays = 3 days in Germany driving a Roda Skapid with small pez engine.

Babies = Nil

Lorry driving = Nil

*Makes note*

Must. Try. Harder. :(

Re: Happy New Year

A belated HNY from me! Doggy - what made for such a super-dooper year last year? the HGV thing? if so, and being the confident* type, I may push myself into enrolling on that Flower Arranging night class I've being eyeing for the last 10 years. To me each year seems much like the last i.e. a bit shi...

Re: MOT pass

luckily parts for Fords are quite cheap what with your fuel bills etc.... Hey it's actually becoming "economical" now it has nearly 100,000 miles on it. Current daily average = 27.1 mpg 8) MOT history records a reliable 6000 miles per year so man-maths suggest I'd only be £8.00 per week bett...

MOT pass

Just had the Volvo MOT'd a month early and passed with no advisories! (expires 19 Jan 2019) :o

This car has passed every MOT for the last 8 years with no issues :cheesy:

Mind you I do spend time and money keeping the maintenance up to date

Re: Battery current at rest

Reminds me of replacing the Volvo's battery..........waited for the ECU to go to bed, disconnected the old battery, went to get the new one...........realised it was still in the boot which opens on a solenoid switch   I can't remember how a 406 can play up after a battery change? was it ...

Re: Just spent some money on the 406

Nowt wrong with spending on preventative maintenance on a known good car. My Missus has said a few times recently that I should buy a newer more economical car...to which I respond with "why?" To explain, I probably average 80 miles a week now, I keep a keen eye on my car so it needs nothing doing r...

Looks good that, if I learn of anyone needing a car in that price range I'll get them to have a look at your add.

How do you know there's storage boxes under the seats if they are hidden? :? :cheesy:

Re: Do D8 V6 Head Gasket Kits exist?

Definitely more Coupe's with the 3.0 than 406's in fact there's never really been much experience on here of 3.0 406's.

Wasn't the same engine used in a lot of large Citroens? like the XM and maybe the C5? this could open up a wider supply chain for you?

Re: 2-EHN Cetane improver

My HDi also dropped by 5 mpg in the winter, I would blame the higher load on the electrics, over-cooling of the incoming air and traffic always seems worse in the winter so more start/stoppage. I remember reading the ideal charge temperature for a diesel is 15 deg C, any lower and the flame front is...

Re: Dual Mass or Solid Flywheel?

I thinks its more about smoothness, the DMF works with the engine mounts to protect the cabin from harsh vibration. The 90 may well have balancer shafts on the crank (I don't know) and this would help and therefore remove the need for a DMF. Certain earlier VAG engines had a mixture of balancer shaf...
