Re: Steel Wheel Bolts

What's the deal with these bolts that have a 'loose' cone/taper bit?

I had to fit the spare steel wheel to our Twingo at the weekend and there were 4 x spare bolts included with the jack etc but they were just straight bolts without the 'cone' bit, I used these anyway.

Re: Glow plug anti-seize?

I guess you don't want to use a lubricant that could end up in the cylinder and coating the injector (if that's possible or feasible). I think if it was me I'd use a dab of clean engine oil but see what the pro's say. I guess whatever you use isn't going to stay in there for long with all the heat a...

Re: Glow plug anti-seize?

I would ask on the Audi forum but I think they all have a man to do the dirty stuff. Sounds like the Volvo Forum  then get all sniffy when 'the man' doesn't deliver the service expected, or it costs more.... Soak in WD40 for 6 months? Jasper on here will have a lot of experience with thi...

Re: Ooof

The Twingo's NSF alloy has been twatted on a curb stone full-on. The 6 week old £85.00 tyre now has a 5p piece-sized chunk missing in the sidewall, a chink of alloy has gone but worse is the inside of the rim is buckled, only evident when I took the wheel off. Going to a wheel specialist to see if t...

Re: Peugeot 508 2.2HDi GT - talk to me...

I don't get all the hype about cam chains, there's LOADS of cases where chains stretch or the tensioning mechanism shits itself and the chain stretches or skips teeth (Nissan, PSA, BMW etc.) in my view they are not a benefit as a second hand owner but a liability unless you want to bite the bullet a...

Thanks for that, a nice little story to be fair. Something important you said was 'being careful' and that's me, even as a car driver I assume everyone else is not paying attention and I'll drive ready to react and leave lots of room.

Re: What is this dangling hose on front of my engine?

Mine used to leak from the filter housing drain off (plastic thumbwheel plug at the bottom) be careful not to murder the thing tight it might break. You can open it carefully and drain the diesel into a container then clean and check the plug's o-ring and carefully wind it back in reasonably tight b...

Re: Motorcycling and getting a licence. Caution: 46 yr old man talking

Hmmmmmm, I thought this'd stir up various reactions. I mentioned getting a bike to Mrs_Welly who said: "A f*cking MOTORBIKE NO f*cking WAY YOU IDIOT THEY'RE DEATH TRAPS" or something, I wasn't really paying attention. A 'Caterham' type thing would be fun I guess but you can't really go hooning aroun...

Motorcycling and getting a licence. Caution: 46 yr old man talking

In my youth I rode bicycles for leisure for 12 years including 3 years of BMX trials, then Cycled to/from work for 2 years so lots of varied experience albeit on push bike. Motorbikes in general were a family 'no no' since my Cousin was paralyzed in a motorbike crash at 19. All of my friends had mot...

Re: Peugeot 508 2.2HDi GT - talk to me...

I R DISAPPOINT :( Another 'modern' car being unfeasible to own because: emissions and oddly specified. Are used Dizzler values slipping now because: OMGDIESEL and what the gubbermint said? I've noticed Volvo S40 dizzlers are very cheap now, like £1,500.00 for a 2007 car. Family member just changed h...

Peugeot 508 2.2HDi GT - talk to me...

The other day I saw a 508 and thought how good it looked amongst all the usual euro-boxes out there. Naturally I went on Autotrader for a nosey. Spotted a 2012 508 2.2HDi GT with all the trimmings on the right side of £5K, but with high miles (150K). What's the deal with the newer 2.2's? are they ba...

Re: Another MOT shake up

Just to help you, I've emailed the DVSA and the Department of Very Lost Applications with your Reg No. and VIN just to check what is required for MOT.

I also said that the standard DPF had been removed, I hope this helps.
