Re: New 'stricter' MOTs...

that is a common misconception and even if it failed today it still could be driven untill the original MOT ran out.He said many people get confused over the new MOT rules. :? I work next door to an MOT station so obviously that makes me a qualified vehicle examiner so listen to me: If your car fai...

Re: The Price of Diesel

Also watch out for the terms of any supermarket '10p off' vouchers, there were stories of food being marked up in price for the duration of the offer so you weren't actually gaining anything with the fuel saving, tins of Tuna rings a bell.... Oh, listen to me, suggesting a supermarket would manipula...

Re: Pointy Indicators on modern cars

Landy - your method is the same as mine. I'm often guilty of 'straight lining' roundabouts, which, in 1987 when I passed my test was an accepted practice "if the roundabout was free of traffic" these days it raises some questions; notably it puts your car towards the centre of the roundabout and can...

And what's this fashion now of indicating 'right' when approaching a roundabout but actually taking the 'straight on' path :frown:

Between £6K to £10K per month

Re: Fuel (diesel) woes.

It goes without saying to be VERY CAUTIOUS 'opening' a high pressure fuel system for inspection, make sure (by whatever means applies) that the system is not pressurised before you do any kind of spannering on it for yours and anyone helping's safety.

Re: Ebay Etc. Just "Run-In" 406s

I agree modern cars are much nicer to drive I can't decide if I agree with that completely, yes they ride and grip well and seem 'easy' to pilot but the last few modern hire cars I've driven have had horrid light and twitchy steering, is that what people want these days? I dunno but the complete la...

Re: Ebay Etc. Just "Run-In" 406s

I broadly agree on that with moderns but I do wonder whether they're as bad as we fear (apart from the styling obvs) if you're 'into' cars like many of us then surely a bit of timely (or better, early) maintenance here and there will see a modern car giving good service? and the 'complexity' seems t...

Re: Beko1987's Winter Beater of Distinction!

You wanna try the Volvo Forum, after 9 years of regular postings and (what I considered) being quite helpful I feel like they're just beginning to like me

Although I don't go into 'their' Lounge Section; that's akin to walking into a quiet village pub holding a severed head....

Re: Beko1987's Winter Beater of Distinction!

Hi Beko, I've read loads of your postings on the AS forum, nice to see you on here, I'm a long-term member and hang around for the crack or try to offer words of wisdom from years of being a member. Unfortunately the 406 ownership is dwindling fast so the forum's a bit quiet, this is a real shame as...

Nice update!

Why did you have to shutter off and pour such a large plinth across the bottom like that (at the back).

Re: and today i have mostly been...

Those tyres have a nice 'aggressive' tread pattern, perfect for Schnow. To update the Volvo's suspension calamities (this has taken 2 weeks now)... New wishbones on, all good, went for tracking, they said TRE seized so come back, mechanic had to cut through the TRE to get it off  this was get...
