Anyone know about modern Mini's?

One of my Wife's friends has a 2011 Mini Cooper Petrol (non turbo) and has just spent a fortune on a new timing chain at a Garage. Now the car is losing water (with no visible leakage) the expansion bottle empties every few days, it's running cold all the time, and the radiator cooling fan is runnin...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

The new Defender is full of electronics and touch screens, I can't see it appealing to the sort of people who bought 'proper' defenders back in the day, I guess they've targeted those trendy hipster wankers who want to look like they're outdoor country folk when they really live in Chelsea drinking ...

Spotted any 69 plates? I've won this already

At the weekend on the M40 I saw a 69 plate Lamborghini Huracan/Aventador (excuse my lack of actual knowledge) but there it was, in White, doing about 65mph in lane 1 :supafrisk:

Re: Ebay Etc. Just "Run-In" 406s

That's good that you like the C5 Peter, I take it it's a Dizzler? There's definitely something about a comfy car, I remember clearly that ladies really liked my 406 and remarked on its comfort. By comparison my Volvo's ride is HARD, especially at low speeds it's almost comical. Our C4 is pretty comf...

Bejesus wasn't that MOT tester having a bad day? for goodness sake  "number plate deteriorated but not likely to be misread" "anti roll bar corroded but not seriously weakened" Is he having a laugh? :frown: And the owner has been sloshing in eoloys willy-nilly because the additive tank s...

Re: New car suggestions

It's official: The Citroen C5 is the new 406 8) Are there any C5 with 'interesting' petrol engines? Also, Bailes I agree totally about Cam Chains! everyone makes a big fuss saying how great they are that they never need changing but the chain stretches over time - just look at the Nissan Navara hor...

Doggy, your minor calamities sound like the sort of thin I'd do; putting something down and forgetting it......or rushing through things eager to get on the road. Good call to do a practice and the HGV training must come in very handy. Don't forget the C5's key when you go away    Wi...

Re: Peugeot 406 Coupe EV conversion

Brilliant work!

Your engineering and electronics skills are amazing!

I particularly admire your work overcoming the difficulties with the auto gear box, air con, power steering, vacuum, speedometer - you have some determination there.

Re: How many forum users still actually drive a 406

I saw a Silver D9 Estate last week and was genuinely thinking "wow a 406"

There's just not many around now at all (as is reflected in this Forum's activities) mind you you don't see many 407's really either :?

Re: Mot again

I always used to drive to the MOT test and give the handbrake a good workout on the way there, even working it sharply at over 40mph to clean up the braking surfaces as they get glazed over on the 'in the drum' type set ups. That's impressive for a 20 year old car, you forget how old they are someti...
