Re: Which one to buy

I wouldn't use the generic maps either. When I did our passat it was very straightforward, then the 3 of the most nerve racking minutes of my life where it says erasing flash  then uploading the new file. I made a couple of backups of the original just in case things don't go to plan.

Re: Which one to buy

I've used mpps when remapping our passat, found it easy to use.

Re: 2.0. v 2.2 Hdi engines.

I've been on this forum many years and it appears to me that HDi's vary quite a lot with MPG's, some easily manage high numbers whilst others struggle. I only wish I could offer a solid reason for it. I've noticed this on many forums. The passat forum I'm on is the same some cars will easily pull 5...

Re: My GTX

Well I think the 600 mile trip over the weekend has finished off the noisy rear wheel bearing, where it used to rumble under heavy cornering and at around 70 mph it now rumbling constantly. A quick search and phone around found that ECP would get me one for £ 77, and a few if the local motor factors...

Download festival, 3 days or rock music
To be fair it was more a case of I wasn't happy leaving my pride and joy in an unsecured field.

Re: and today i have mostly been...

I took the GTX to download at the weekend, me the wife and a boot load of stuff and 600 miles. I got 54 mpg on the trip computer, worked out on the calculator at 52 mpg. I was going to go in the 924 but the 406 has cruise control which made the m6 and a50 easier and I felt easier leaving it in a fie...

Re: My GTX

Well I couldn't wait and while it's still warm out I carried on, and fitted the air con compressor, boost pipe and other bits. Hmm must sort that rust out. https://i.imgur.com/DPwPqxb.jpg Also while under the thing I noticed the lower engine mount has started to let go. And for the time being I can'...

Re: My GTX

I had some spare time this afternoon so I carried on with the sump swap. New sump cleaned and ready for sealer. https://i.imgur.com/WQNd8WL.jpg Old sump removed. https://i.imgur.com/iJAvCix.jpg New sump fitted, did take a while to remove all the old sealer and clean up the surface though. https://i....

Re: My GTX

Didn't get chance to start the sump job at the weekend, ended up having to visit family  Anyway had a spare hour this morning so got things rolling. All the crap out of the way, bit annoying that you have to take the tensioner off but there we go. https://i.imgur.com/fi7AYPJ.jpg Aircon pump ti...

Re: My GTX

Yeah the ac compressor is bolted to the sump so will have to come off. But there should be enough flex in the hoses to allow me to move it out the way and remove the sump without having to completely remove the pump. If I have to remove it though it's not a problem as it could probably do with being...
