To check for oil leak, you might do a less intruding analysis with an endoscope (small camera with a light in it on a flexible stick) to look inside the chambers when the engine is cold and has not run for a while.
Roger that! :cheesy: I will buy one only for this purpose!
Thank you!

I'm out of idea's, i'm sorry :(
Any idea if this could be related with the rampe injection? Or the sensor on it, for backflow? :|

Re: Peugeot 406 2.0 HDI 90HP, cold start problem

I think you may have an injector problem here, however, by the looks of things and given the mileage (high Kilometers covered) I think you should be realistic and see that this problem may be one of a tired engine. I agree with your mechanic...the smoke looks like unburnt diesel. Sadly, it's not an...

Re: Peugeot 406 2.0 HDI 90HP, cold start problem

Hi guys After a walk to the mechanic, he said that certainly it is not the steam valve seals. Here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yz_fTT4Tagw I uploaded a video with a start at 20+ C degrees, and even in the night there was above 15 C degrees. You can notice the smoke after starting, and if you're...

Re: Peugeot 406 2.0 HDI 90HP, cold start problem

Once again, thank you very, very much for these valuable informations.
I will definitely investigate on this path ...

I will come back in a few days with updates.

I'm working at 200 miles away now and I get the chance to see the car only by the weekend. :(

Re: Peugeot 406 2.0 HDI 90HP, cold start problem

I guess, removing the cylinder head would give me some definitely aswers, and by that I refer to the valve stem seals, head gasket and so on...
By then, I think I will buy an endoscope camera to do what you said.

Is it possible to replace to valve steam seals without removing the cylinder head? :D

Re: Peugeot 406 2.0 HDI 90HP, cold start problem

That's a good idea. You could well have a tiny leak at the fuel filter, (can be too small for fuel to leak out, but air still gets in). It's also worth checking the strainer, (filter), in the fuel tank is not blocked, this can give similar problems. Hi, Doggy Thanks for the informations. I will com...

Re: Peugeot 406 2.0 HDI 90HP, cold start problem

Could well be the problem. Did we determine if your car has a Bosch or Siemens fuel system? It has a Siemens fuel system. I've changed HP pump including it's pressure regulator, 3 injectors, glow plugs, glow plugs rely, coolant temp sensor, ECU.... and none of these bring any improvements. Even now...

Re: Peugeot 406 2.0 HDI 90HP, cold start problem

Hi guys

Recently I noticed that air bubbles are going into the HP pump... I don't know from where they come, but is there a chance that this to be the issue?

Re: Radio Player Problem - Peugeot 406 HDI

You should be fine with a 2002 car, I must admit I've never seen a Phillips radio in a late 406.... It is possible to send your Clarion radio to someone with a 406 and PP2000 so they can program it for you - takes 5 minutes - and then it can be posted back to you already coded so you can fit it str...

Re: Radio Player Problem - Peugeot 406 HDI

The beeping is because it isn't coded to the car, but the volume is probably down to whether it's got an integral amplifier or is expecting to use the external Clarion amp. Some of the later head units could be configured for either. Hi, Doggy The stereon has a setting AutoVolume wich is default on...
