Re: Undecided

Hello Highroller, The HPi Executive Estate that Jasper rescued and subsequently passed on to his brother was mine. I bought it 6 months old in summer 2002 and ran it for 10 years, it's a wonderful car. It was very reliable but suffered the odd niggly electrical issue with sensors etc, the only reall...

Re: Car for my Daughter to learn in?

Thanks Jasper, will keep an eye on those things. Had a first chance to have a really good look at it yesterday, can't find anything of note wrong with it at all so for. Service history is poor but it's clearly been serviced recently, oil filter looks new and the oil is clean (although it has been ov...

Re: Car for my Daughter to learn in?

Well lookie here, a fred about cars for young uns! I'm considerably tighter than you Welters and had set myself a budget of £500 max for my boy's first car. Been keeping a lazy eye out, well he isn't 17 until June, half thinking that if we got something sooner I'll run around in it and save the Vulv...

Re: Winters off, summers on.

But where would you place the Axle Standz? Under the lower suspension arm, that'd be fine. I realised that where I have the jack positioned there I can jack it up high enough that the back wheel comes off the ground too, so I can change both wheels on either side with one jacking point. Also becaus...

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff162/DaiaRees/20170410_182551_zps81izsf5z.jpg Dai, where are you jacking the car up from underneath? I mean what part did you place the jack under? There's a cross member there with very convenient shape ideal for a trolley jack. I'm always very conscious of wher...

Re: Non opening door - MOT fail?

I'm pretty sure that both front doors need to be working but the back doors just need to be secure. Of course, if Mr Tester decides that he needs to access the rear cabin area for any reason (e.g. to check the seatbelts) and he can't open the door then he might get pissy.

I never knowed that neither. :o 406's don't, but I see that Mr Rees's conveyance has. http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff162/DaiaRees/20140415_083029_zpsbaxx4rix.jpg Sure it's not a Volvo thing, what with their target market being experienced motorists who may be apt to forget things? Indeed lol!...

Re: So when do you all slope off for Xmas?

It is considerably less hassle, much more convenient and better paid, fixed hours with some flexibility if needed, and only 10 mins walk from home. Sounds ideal but it has it's problems (as I'm sure all jobs do). Not wishing to whinge here but it's a really weird place to work. There's poor communic...
